Watching some "southmain auto" on youtube for some motivation.

Eric is using a neat little astro light.
So i search for it on amazon.

Astro Tools 52SL 500x2 Lumen Wirelessly Rechargeable Folding Double-Sided LED Slim Light https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0877794DG/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_REEWWMCVKDNN00ECXB0Y

Ordering!

This was a present I gifted to myself. Great investment! Buy the bigger M12 4.0 or 6.0 batteries if you decide to get one. The small 2.0 and 3.0 just don’t last, especially if you decide to run it on the high/bright setting.

My question would still be positioning it without any kind of a hook. It rarely works to wedge a light in place. I need to be able to hook it and then rotate it until it’s shining in exactly the right spot. I guess you’ll have to figure that part out. For illuminating a large area I use a big one that can sit flat or propped up.
That is what I love about the Milwaukee. Its track hooks to the underside of your hood (or wherever you’re working - I had it underneath while working on the rear suspension). It rotates, slides along the track, and can also be removed from the track and hung up by the metal hook on the end of it.

Oh yeh, the hook swivels and pivots as well and locks in position. Makes it much easier to hook onto something one handed or trying to position the light once hooked. Any light with a stationary hook can sometimes make positioning the light a difficult task.

I have an led light sorta like the one you have pictured.
It works well, and yeah i keep some Wire around for tasks like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0195UGSH4
(I should probably get some bailing wire from the local farm supply store one day, probably cheaper as a throw away...)

I wouldn’t want a double sided one unless you can turn off one side so it isn’t shining in your face. Also those don’t have a hook on the end for hanging it. I even added a wire to the opposite end of mine that I leave wrapped around it when not needed. That way I can suspend the entire thing. I’ve had this one for years, forget the brand. I added some bright reflective tape to the backside after I drove around for a week with it under my hood disguised as a hose.
Mine is still kicking ass too thanks! :)

And i got my valve cover spacers from summit yesterday.
Actually got the right ones!

Last set were the correct pn and description on the packaging as they received from ict billet, but clearly bbc spacers. lol

Ones i got as replacements look to have been on the shelf for a few years, but they are actual ls spacers!

Last night i bonded the new felpro seal to the bottom half of the spacer with some black rtv.

Apparently per the fsm, it's something your supposed to do.

Last time i installed the valve covers, my felpro seals stretched and made life difficult.

Bonding them to the groove in the cover makes oh so much more sense. lol

Anyways, trying to decide if i want to get motivated to pull the valve covers, pull the rockers.
And install the longer pushrods while it's open.

Found my tube of permatex high temp thread sealer.
and an older tube arp high temp thread sealer as a bonus!

(My AFR heads have to have the intake side sealed since they pass through the intake port).

Or option 2
I go check out some junkyards!
I still need an airbag sensor, and i would love to find some arm rests for my bucket seats in the second row...

It's not like my engine makes much noise...
It sure would be nice to put it off for a week or two... lol
Do you have the “sewing machine” noise after it comes to full oil temp, or all the time? I still haven’t swapped my pushrods

I thought that's what this one was. What's the difference? My Denali one has retractable, pivoting covers that close to make an unbroken expanse of fake wood. It looks okay. But the doors take up so much space that there isn't enough room to even put my sunglasses in it. This one is far more useful, and only slightly less attractive. That's a compromise I'm willing to make.
That's one of the first mods I did when I got my 2011 Denali. I hated the OE holders.

The standard Tahoe/Yukon one is much more practical, plus the cup holder is removable and allows a drink carrier from McDonald's (and other places) to fit right in there.

When my 2011 got totalled I saved it and put it in my 2012

Yes i do,
it's really noticeable when cold.
lighter when hot, but still there.

I have that in my vette as well (gen 1 sbc).
I understand that's pretty normal with full rollers.
It also has the scorpion "race" series, reviews say that those are really bad about it. :jester:
(The Tahoe has the comp cams rollers)

the sound that i don't like happens at light throttle and right around 3k rpm.
Its either the rockers hitting the valve cover lightly, or me needing slightly longer pushrods....

I also get some light rattling on a cold startup, but it's really barley noticeable.

I'm half way tempted to try the spacers out first, then the pushrods...

Mine is quiet when oil is cold. Only gets noisy after the oil is fully warm and thin. IIRC I have 10-30 in it. Could be 5-30. I really can’t remember

seems to go away above 3800 rpm. Probably because everything else it making more noise lol
