To sum up [yet another…I know] long ass post from earlier - it was meant to be a private message.

Who has changed out their front struts/coils and has had good luck with the build quality, the fit/finish, and most importantly the ride. Also, did you have to change both the front and rear coils so the vehicle rode better, or did you do so for aesthetics.

Who has changed out their front struts/coils and has had good luck with the build quality, the fit/finish, and most importantly the ride. Also, did you have to change both the front and rear coils so the vehicle rode better, or did you do so for aesthetics.

We recently did the front and rear on the Yukon XL, huge difference in ride quality and she's not sagging anymore, went with all GM OE parts. It'll ride even nicer when we get done with the replacing the tie rods, get it aligned and put some new tires on it.

I replaced the shock portion of the strut, that's all you have to do that's the only part that goes bad
just get the old part number off the shock and punch the number into rock auto, they have new oem ones. lifetime warranty

I changed out my fronts with the Monroe kit from rock auto. Easy to do, no ride issues with them after 2 years close to 35xxx miles. The rears changed the shocks out as well. The springs were and are still good.

I don’t think that option (GM OE) is going to be available for me. Not unless I use a different GM part.

I wish that were the case…see attached photos

I have a stubbornness that’s usually unwilling to ask for help. If those options of just ordering the new parts and slapping it in there were available I wouldn’t have reached out. OEM is really the only way to go especially given the ride of the Denali, but the lack of coils springs is the issue.

I don't think so. The geometry on the back side of most of these pieces would be very difficult to reproduce. For example, the center stack surround has nine metal clips holding it in place, each of which requires a big tab on the back of the piece. The best you could hope for is CF laminated to a plastic molded part, I think. All that said, I probably wouldn't pay what real CF parts would cost anyway. The 3M vinyl is pretty convincing, and far more affordable.

It might be convincing if you’ve never had the real thing before. I had a Harley Davidson V-Rod with all CF body parts. The stuff looks amazing. The wrap? It looks like a picture of CF. It looks better than the fake wood but it’s nothing close to real carbon fiber, which has depth. It is expensive though.

The thing about it was I already had the p/n for 99% of it.

Here is the real kicker.
Front coil springs p/n 20842473
(last 8 BR245859)

So what to do next considering none are available. Only two show up in the whole country (MO and NC) - I called and both are spoken for. Also, there were no other p/n’s listed which superseded them nor any others for cross reference.

Does anyone who lives further south or anywhere things dont rust have any local LKQ/yards they recommend for a set of front coils?
I have all new struts, mounts, hardware, insulators…etc so the options are:

1. Try finding a different coil that fits without throwing off the feel of the ride.
2. Try to return the newly purchased struts and all of the hardware, then look for an aftermarket set?
3. Buy a pre-assembled unit that isn’t cheaply built.


Any suggestions gents? I have no need to lift the vehicle. It could potentially be lowered, but I would have to adjust the rear as well so I don’t end up with the “Carolina lean”.
There is 1 dealer that has the old gm#25909352, but only 1 coil.
