What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

As you can see from the above image, i got the bearing cap pulled.
I caught this one much sooner.
the thrust bearing was out of spec but not totaled.

the wear in the bearing is also nicely polished.
I'm going with i need to loosen up the clearances a little.

And i'm on the fence if i want to try the crank once more or call it and yank the engine.

While working this, my new diamond d holster came in the mail for the 'ol 500.
So, i got to model that for my wife, currently doing a little breaking in of the leather...

sipping some whiskey right now, trying to decide if i want to say fk it and yank the engine like i know i should.
Or give it one more go.

Nice thing, non "race" bearings are cheap.
$60 and i have mains and rod bearings...

I suggest not thinking about your engine while “sipping” whiskey. At least don’t make decisions while doing so. I never made a single sound decision while under the influence and now that I’ve quit drinking I haven’t made a single boneheaded one. And that’s been 15 years. Might be part of the reason you’re struggling with this engine. I have never heard of anyone having so much trouble building an LS. Of course, that’s just an opinion of some guy on the internet lol.

I never made a single sound decision while under the influence and now that I’ve quit drinking I haven’t made a single boneheaded one. And that’s been 15 years. Might be part of the reason you’re struggling with this engine. I have never heard of anyone having so much trouble building an LS. Of course, that’s just an opinion of some guy on the internet lol.

Yeah, i don't drink that often, and i don't work on anything when i do.
I do try and avoid making any orders...

What are you talking about? I made the best decisions when I was drinking. That's how I ended up with 90% of the shiny parts and tools I have!

I had my long tubes ceramic coated, high heat, and have long extensions, just not sure where to put em, just yet. Im rewiring electrical this weekend

Gotcha. Having a 6.2l limits the space that I’m able to work with, and pretty much eliminates the idea of long tubes for mine. We will be eager to see your work once you get finished.

By the way…the wifey and my uncle both said hello and have recently been seen rockin’ their “Team USA” shirts.

That Aircat on the left does 130ft lbs!
It's a knuckle buster, I have had my hand pined by it a few times.
It's slow but has a ton of power.
Close to "impact" but it won't hammer.
you can do it manually, but it transfers all of that into the hand.

The one next to it is branded "acdelco".
it's a very nice ratchet, iirc i got it for about $20 on an amazon clearance.
I loved it so much i got a spare while they were cheap and available.

then the new one, next to that, astro 3/8 with a built-in socket swivel.
Used it for the first time today.
It's nice, but that ac delco has a longer nose and no external moving parts, so it will stay as my go-to.
I'm also dumping that swivel air fitting on the end, it's stupid.

it looks identical to the astro version, and at the time it was about half the price.

Its good, i use it often.
But it does get a little hot with heavy use.

That ACDelco is a nice addition to the tool box. Looks like you stole two of them for that price while the getting was still good.
The swivels are nice for some air tools, but usually with ratchets I opt for a 45 or 90.

Yeah i sense he was not the "happy drinkers" that u and i are.

And i second that, some of my favorite tools and toys were ordered after i had a few.

I also use it as a form of meditation.
Ponder lifes great questions.
well made decisions like what color shingles to match the blue sidings etc.

I'm still very pleased with my decision, and several neighbors followed my color choice since then.
