How much more energy from the engine does a larger alternator pull, like that 250amp over a 140amp?
probably not much, were talking drag coefficient which is complicated math like what is X when y=2.0 and what is x when y=2.00000000000001
math that school said I needed to know but has no practical application in life unless I intended to become a engineer.

I think my starter is rapidly going bad. I have new dual batteries and a brand new alternator. It acts like there's a dead spot, like the starter starts out fast but the dogs like there's no power to it. Mine is original... I know I should've replaced it when I replaced the engine.

I found factory one on summit, but the fitment says for Camaro with 6.2 and G8 with 6.0 or 6.2. Why would it not fit my 6.2? Here's a picture with the P/N. I'm thinking this one will work

Check to make sure that the connector for the small wire is the same on your starter and this one. They went from a threaded post to a plastic connector around 2009-2010.

Finally got the new Remy starter installed in the 2007. Easy job with the fender liner out. I got lucky and was able to remove the heat shroud on the exhaust manifold without breaking any bolts. One was already broken previously, but the others came out with no trouble. Luckyyyy! As I look at this photo now though, I realize I need to install the heat shield on top of the solenoid.

You still have to go underneath too? Or did it all through there? Just bolts in right, no shimming like on the older GM engines? That's how long it has been since I did one.

Do you have a pic of the starter removed showing that area of the block? I read somewhere there is a seal in the block behind the starter that could leak oil.

If under the same electrical load- they'll put about the same load on the engine. The difference lies within the alternator's efficiency and friction factors (bearings, weight of armature, etc.). If all is equal and your truck has 30 amps of total load when running (fuel pump, lights, A/C blower, etc.), then the 250A alternator will not induce any more drag on the engine than the 140A. They won't be equal, though. Actually, if the 250A is more efficient at operating speed, then it could induce less load on the engine.

wheres @iamdub and his electrical gang shoutout

its not that complicated.
amps x volts = watts
150amps x 12v= 1800w

1800w/746 (1hp=746w)= 2.4hp
