was the terminal missing?
It was very loose. It pulled right out of that socket and stuck to the motor prong. Not supposed to do that. I buttoned everything up and fired it up. Seems normal so far. I just did a few laps around town. I have a slight acceleration during a slow roll, coming to a stop, or backing up, but it settles down. If it doesn't self adjust I will have my mechanic do the idle relearn. I'm still on pins and needles but I am hoping to hell this is fixed now.

It's not far, a few miles. Just head down until you see the bridge for San Luis Pass, and there should be a pull-off/dirt road before that.

You'll need to drive down some (potentially flooded) sand roads to get to the beach. But then it's open... Follow the beach back east to get away from the trash and mobs fishing.

I wouldn't recommend swimming there at all. The currents will rip you away. But, during the week it's quiet and great.

Thanks for the tips! I'm not much for swimming in saltwater, anyway. Both of my nephews were stung by jellyfish on this last trip two weeks ago. Just quiet napping on the beach in the ocean-scented breeze is all I'm after.

No I don't see any. Have you seen or heard of that before? I know you got to make sure to line up the slot to the butterfly shaft correctly or that will really fk things up. In those pics i posted see the slot in the switch the shaft goes into? Notice how the new one was not the same orientation? I used a small screwdriver to match the position of the old one. With the silver prong sides to the top and left and the plastic parts to the right and down. And paid close attention when assembling that the shaft slid into that groove properly and the electrical tabs as well.

thats a shame. i was able to buy a oem for my 96 in like 2015. shame they ended so early.

is is possible to use one from something newer?
Just one with 1415 series u-joints that almost would fit (1.81" longer) ours if so equipped. 15109398. Nevermind, that one was discontinued too.

Well, we either go with Dorman or make them up local. I've been collecting parts to go 1415 series for when we add more power to our trucks.

Heard a HISSING sound! From passenger side of motor when shutting down after a drive... Lasts about 15 seconds or so

Previously thought it might be A/C pressure bleeding down, but it definately sounds like it's coming from the top of motor.
I think this maybe the coolant smell/leak? I've been chasing.

I'm thinking it could be the rear steam port or external headgasket leak on top, but under intake manifold.
Anything else it could be?

I will remove intake in a few days to have a look see... What else should I do while I'm in there?
