Treat a vehicle right without hotrodding or towing and you can go 10k on an oil change. They make oil waaaayyy more efficient now days yet the oil companies tell you to still change the oil like we're still in the 90s. Not to mention the new vehicles run way more effeciently and cleaner too.
I still too change mine at 5k with synthetic lol

But has anyone thought about that? Oil business getting their money

^^ You are right. I guess it is just old habits from back in the day and what we learned with our first vehicles, right? Lol

Exactly, I still change my oil at 3K and I'm running Mobil synthetic blend

Yeah, exactly guys. I was just more than a bit surprised to see the oil like this. Usually after I buy a car, it's 3K miles for the first oil change, 4K for the next, 5K+ onward.

Also, in my 2013 Impala LTZ, the OLM was fairly accurate. I know that it's not 100% to be relied on though, so I just wanted to see what your opinions were.

Didn't do much today other than drive her to the store. My Brother is trying to talk me out of my Rims and lift her back up. He made a generous offer for the 20's and may just take him up on that!

$6500, in case you're still curious. Anyone know what a repaint of white diamond tricoat on the entire side of the vehicle should cost? I've never had to get anything repainted.

All true. But, there are variables that have to be considered regardless of oil type and engine efficiency. Quality of fuel and the environment in which the vehicle is driven are two major variables. Oil itself, including conventional, lasts so much longer than it used to. But it can't do anything to guard itself against excessive temperatures and contaminants in low-quality fuel so it will still get dirty. Even though the oil may be in excellent condition lubrication-wise, you have to change it even if it's just to get the contaminants out.

But, if your late-model engine is turning oil black at the age-old recommended OCI of 3,000 miles, then you're running the ********* of the ****** oil and/or there is something wrong with your engine.

@MichaelSE

I had the driver's side painted all the way to the front fender and the liftgate done.

Cost was $1000 and that painter swore up and down he would not do another WDT because of the blending. That is the toughest part with the ground coat and base coat is matching the amount of coverage/coats to blend with the rest/OEM paint that is not being painted.

I can look hard enough and see a difference in the drivers door vs. the drivers front fender.

Average Joe will not. So ask questions to your painter about their confidence in the 3 stage process.
