Huh? Just for having one or were you using it on the road?

(Not the OP) I had to do some searching for this, too, as it seems bizarre, but it probably limits abuse. Apparently CA requires you to have any off-road / aux lights covered while on paved roads. Seems like a pain, considering you usually just flip it on in time of need, without having to take the extra steps to get out and remove the cover to be able to turn it on. A real bummer since it is installed behind the grille, too.

I wasn’t aware of the rule when I installed it, I mean it’s behind my grille. Especially here in So Cal, every prerunner/normal truck has them above the windshield and I’m the one that gets pulled over? Even the judge had no idea what the ticket was for. It is what it is. Just another jack ass law that we deal with here in Cali.

Did you get a chance to explain to the judge? Did he say, that's stupid, and let you off?

I wish. It was considered a fix it ticket so I asked for an extension to order the covers, put them on, had the ticket signed off by CHP then paid the court a $25 processing fee and took them off as soon as I got home

Much better Bryan! Can't wait to do that to mine.
When you do it, Check eBay for the best prices.
I went with the 1.5" kit from "Motofab" it was $22 with hardware and shipping, how can you beat it
Plus they have all different sizes if you wanted 1", 2" Or 2.5"
They say for silverado and sierras, but they fit Us tahoe suburbans and such also
