what year is your truck?

It’s actually my ‘02 2500HD reg cab plow truck. It’s a warning to all of us of the nasty effects of rust. I only had to deal with one snapped bolt too; welded a nut on the exposed stud.
While I was in there I did the wires (Auto Value’s brand) and ACDelco Rapidfire plugs for $35+22 = $57.
I can’t believe the dealer charged that guy here $500. I’m curious to what else they did. New coils too?

$306 labor, $95.20 plugs and $144.55 wires. My back doesn't let me do it myself anymore.
That’s why you shouldn’t go to a dealer for maintenance. An independent shop would have been 1/3 that and it’s not something that’s hard to do so pretty much any shop would do.

I thought that too, but in this town the independent's are higher. I got gouged for $1400 for rear Arnott's by a local. It was covered under warranty so I didn't care much.

That’s outrageous. Dealer labor is what: $120/hr? That’s 2.5 hours to swap plugs and wires?!?

On my GMT800 pickup I had to pull the tires (0.1 hours) wheel well liners (0.2 hours) and then I had full access to the wires and plugs (0.5 hours). So 1.1 hours actual for R&R of just the plugs. I’m curious what the official Mitchell book time is. Maybe add in 0.2 hours for a mandatory safety inspection as it is a licensed dealer. So 1.3 x $120 = $156.
The parts price doesn’t seem too out of line but the labor fee is ridiculous.
