Ordered a negative battery cable from these guys.
Got one made from 33” of 2GA with the ends on it already for 20 bucks. The small ground cable to the frame by the bumper is smashed and corroded so I plan to put an end on the old battery cable and run it from the block to the frame.

Nice work. Looks pretty good in there.
It wasn’t too bad. Still a bit more sludge than I’d like. About 1/8 inch layer in the bottom of the pan. Maybe that’s normal at 150k. It’s been through four oil changes since I’ve had it. Each time I’ve substituted 1/2 quart of ATF in an attempt to provide some extra cleaning action since I don’t know the complete vehicle history. It has helped quiet down a noisy lifter.

Got it cleaned up and a new gasket riveted to the pan.

Per the service manual, the rivets aren’t required to be replaced. But I’m OCD. It allowed me to get it perfectly centered and the gasket didn’t budge at all during installation which was nice. My guess is that, at the factory, the oil pan is prob put on with the engine upside down. So the gasket needs to be held securely to allow for higher production rates.

I’ve seen folks use zip ties which seem effective.

I went with the no rivets on the oil pan install, wasn't hard to keep centered.
I also for some reason felt like the rivets could get in the way, but I'm sure it's away from the sealing surface anyways.
