I'm just curious about maps that work when the cell phone doesn't have the cell connection. Like out in the boonies with a real GPS.
This isn't necessarily relevant to any dash unit, but I use Organic Maps, which uses Open Street Maps data. Once the data files are on your phone or tablet, you need no connectivity for navigation.

It can open kml files (Google Earth format) and export points and tracks you've created in the app. I regularly create routings, "avoid" areas, interest points, etc. in kml format for use with the app.

I should have known it wasn’t California, you can’t drive on the beaches there can you? Most of Oregon and Washington is open to vehicles. It’s great to see the people from elsewhere get stuck in the sand. :p Not you of course.
I have seen people stuck out here a couple times, but not this trip, the sand is pretty damp right now so all of it is easy to drive on. Pismo beach would be the closest one to me but still like 3 hours away
