The oil pressure could be way worse... And it's not accurate anymore now that I've pulled the needles off, but it's still pretty close (I need to fix the speedo needle).

Why don't you enlighten us on the proper oil pressure off a warm idle?

Most mechanics I've ever talked to and what I've learned in school is anything at idle warm, and 10 psi for every 1,000 revs. (3,000 rpm = 30psi) The needle in my Yukon acts as follows: warm idle: 20-25 psi, 1,500 rpm: 40 psi, 2,000 and above: ~50psi.

you act like your driving a slant-6.

When I swapped my needles I plugged the gauge cluster in and let the needles settle, then pulled one by one and lined them up as close as I could. My volt gauge always read a little low according to the digital read out on the capacitor under the rear seat, so I adjusted that one accordingly so it's closer now.

10psi/1000rpm is the low side of "accepted normal" for a small block Chevy.

The only two gauges I trust in mine are the speedometer and tach. All the others are liars in my book.

it can go lower and still be fine technically. but still you would want at least 20's while idling and about 40's while cruising. for a high mileage engine. good pressure for flow and to keep lifters pumped up with not to much that it creates to much parasitic drag on the engine.

Oil Pressure?! We don't need no stinking oil pressure!!

I remember when I had no oil pressure. Still acted fine with loads of power just when it. Was rebuilt it took out the crankshaft and bearings were history
