Will have to see if I can get help to get a video of the vehicle braking but the effort from the driver is basically just resistance of the MC spring itself. The linear movement rate is really fast. No waiting for the vacuum booster to work its way in. And the clamping power is fantastic. On several attempts to lock up to see how the abs reacted, I hope I just heard the abs reacting because I had a loud bang on the left front. Mind you that bleeder screw was jammed so I could not get the nasty out of there. I thought I ripped a caliper off but nope it is still there doing its job. Unfortunately I have micro cracks all over the rotors so I will have to replace them. Will be trying ssbc big bite's next and will likely go for the twin piston caliper upgrade before the rear disc conversion. Hope this info will convince others to do the conversion. I will probably make a list of parts I used for the '96 because one hose is different from '97 up due to the EVO steering. But for now I will say that I am using a booster for JB8 brake system with a 1-1/4" bored MC.

It takes a lot of work to keep it so shiny, especially with what I do to it. And I think the way the first owner of the rig takes care of it has long lasting effects on the paint later in life, because my grandpa was uber meticulous and I'm not, it gets wax once every few years (trying to be better about that) and I wash it every few weeks at best. And the climate didn't help, as it's lived in a hot desert most of its life.

Saturday was 4 new hinge pins. I busted a couple of the new bushings during the install so I had to run to NAPA and buy another kit. The ones I had bought were Dorman, but NAPA's was their brand. The bushings from that kit slid in with no help. Much different than the Dorman bits.

Sunday I changed the fuel filter, installed my Z71 skid plate and inspected the transfer case for the pump wear. The TC looks great. Super clean and no signs of wear in the areas indicated in other threads. All of the bolts between the cases look a little worn from a socket, so it's possible the PO had already fixed it.

I slipped some fiber washers between the skid plate and the cross member, but the rear of the plate is hitting the cross member where the torsion bars begin. I tried to find some parts listings online for the Tahoe Z71 bits but couldn't. Is there supposed to be some larger spacers on the four bolts than what I used?

The front main seal is leaking but not really enough to drip on the ground consistently. Probably need to tackle that in the next 2 months.

Thanks. I'm surprised, but maybe the contact with the other cross member makes it a bit stronger.

after searching this forum for a while i read a post about tightening the steering box as mine had the same condition , maybe not as bad. i did what they said and it absolutley fixed the wander and slop! total relief.
go in from the top , loosened the locknut around the hex-head adjuster and turn the allen screw about half turn clockwise. re-tighten the lock nut and test drive. i would go 1/2 to 1/4 turn at a time until satisfied. just dont overtighten or else you will dmamge the box.

sounds like you have the addiction ... im a relative beginner OBS guy, but i love them. i bought my wife (and myself) a 99 ducks unlimited , and i just decided to buy MYSELF a nice 99 silver 2 door. the pruchase is currently in the works, higher milage 163k , but SUPER clean and a southern truck ... so there is NO rust underneath. cant wait until she is in the garage
good luck
Steve (domer94). Thanks for the post. I found the originals and did the work (of course after having to take the upper and lower fan shrouds out which sucked major bung). I had to make three separate adjustments before I found the sweet spot. I am tracking dead-on with no excessive play present.

Best of luck to you and your wife's new rides. I look forward to reading about their progress and the imminent drain on your checking accounts! Eric

Upgraded headlight bulbs to Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. :) Looking forward to seeing how well they do. Always been a big fan of the standard Silverstars, so this is the first time I opted for the Ultras. :D
