Stock or 145 amp nbs upgrade?

There were two options, a lower power alternator(don't remember the amps... 80 ish?) or a more expensive one at 125 amps. We got the 125 amp. Dad says his 97 sierra has burned through two of them and to get the more powerful one, he thinks these gms are prone to overheating them. The guy at oreilleys didn't offer one at 145 amps! It has a lifetime warranty on it so I'm satisfied.

Today we added trailer wiring and a tow ball(until I can grab a frame mount receiver for cheap) so I can go get the boat if I wanna go fishing, and because my truck has AC and Dad doesn't. I imagine we will use mine more than his when we ever go fishing together.

sounds like he has an issue that is not the alternator directly. My factory 105 went 16 years and the reason I chucked it was because one of the brushes wore out and I wanted upgrade till I can fit some bigger ones in there.

Possibly! The one he has in it now has been in there for quite a while and he hasn't had any more problems though.

I needed mine immediately and couldn't wait for someone on eBay to send me one. Plus the guys at the oreilleys here are awesome (dad refuses to go to the auto zone) and help us quite a bit. If this one goes out I'll get a free new one, so I'm satisfied with a store bought one. All in all, after I noticed it was failing I had a new one in the truck in about half an hour, so no complaints. They had several options with internal fans...

Edit: I just double checked and it may have been the 140 amp alternator that I got. I was thinking 125 because that was the price of it. It's the same price as the 124 amp alternator so I'm not sure. the receipt is in the truck. Dad bought it for me so I'm just happy it's fixed!

Oh, I also took off an old dealer tag that had been stuck right above the "Yukon" on the back. It was off center, shoved up against the original badge, and looked generally terrible.

I hate those things. I would remove it on a used vehicle or would have refused to take delivery of a newly bought vehicle if the dealer try to slap on some advertising. When you buy it it is yours outright.

Yeah when I got it there were actually two different dealer tags. One was a bright blue sticker that peeled right off. I hate them. The one we just removed left a spot but I would rather have a small blemish that's hardly noticeable than that dumb dealer tag.
