Tats what i was asking spaz what gear do you all drive in for best gas milage, responsivness etc
Also, as to specifically putting it in a gear, that's not the way most auto's work (minus those that have a selectable gear features, you know, a "manumatic" of sorts), outside of the "1." If you put it in 1, you are going to be locked into 1st gear. 2 would give you 1st and 2nd, 3 would get you 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Now, I can't vouch for the exact auto that GM uses, but again, that is how most of them work. Just think about driving a manual and starting off in/only using 3rd gear. It is possible, but you would have to give it a ridiculous amount of gas (opposed to starting in 1st) and going from a dead stop would be anything but smooth. I suppose I could see 2 being only second gear as, again, back to the manual example, that is doable, but not advisable just a lot more doable than only using 3rd.
Anyway, back to your original question, put it in D and let it do its thing for your normal driving conditions.
