'10 Z71 4wd--This wire is found between the underhood fuse box and the drivers side fender. Looks like a factory item.

What's it for?

Thats for hooking up a trailer brake controller. There should be a second one taped up just to the left (if looking from the front of the truck in to the engine compartment) of the under hood fuse boxe along one of the wire looms. You hook those up to the two lugs in the front of the fuse box, and then there is a wire harnes under the dash that you make your connections to the controller.

Found the other wire your speak of. Do you know if adding either wire gets me 12v+ at the 7pin trailer wire connector?

That's how the trailer is charged.

What're you towing? Are you using a controller?

I tow 22' walk around..but I don't use electric brakes. The trailer has surge brakes.
I just want to have 12v going to the 1 oclock trailer light connector pin for accessories without having the trunk open.

If you're looking at the truck's receiver, the 11 o'clock is for 12v (aka 1 o'clock on the connector). If you hook those wires up, you should get the 12v to the plug.

Yes, the second wire does, if your trailer has brakes on it its an easy install, you can pick up a controller for a couple hundred and like I said the wire harnes is stuffed up under the dash just to the left of the steering wheel. Then just splice the controller to the harness.

That wire is for acc lighting in the trailer and to charge the trailer battery.Connect the wire to the underhood fuse box post at the front of the fuse box on the right side I believe. It is the post with no wire on it and if you look in the owners manual it will say it is a 40amp fuse

You could have two wires there. As ststed above one is for elec brakes the other for acc.. Your owners manual shows both.
