I've been looking at kooks for mine 2011.
But I haven't read anything about them tho. I have noticed they don't make a y pipe for the 5.3

First and foremost.. Make sure you get high flow cats. DO NOT go catless. Trust me. Had touring without cats and it was extremely raspy.

Look into dynatech. Probably the best bang for the buck for a total header/y-pipe package.

Thanks for the info that helps a lot, I do plan on using cats and am aiming for long tubes, that dynatech setup looks pretty good, that is also the only long tube setup I've seen with a catted y-pipe to match

Am I missing something (likely) or are there not many other long tube muffler-forward setups like the dynatech out there?

There are a few. American Racing, stainless works.

You definetly need long tubes. Anything else would hurt more than help.

I will look into those as well, thanks. I have read a few "shortys are bad" type posts, what is the story there?

They just aren't beneficial for LS based engines.
