What made you go with an SUV over a Truck?

I had an 87 suburban that i restored and loved it but we bought a bunch of property and a small house 150 miles away and i have three large dogs that have to go with us so i bought my yukon for more power, Better MPG, Much better A/C and above all reliability.

Currently I have an 05' Sierra 1500 CCSB, with a camper shell on it. Within the last few years I've been eying up the Yukon XL's. Like many of you, I to have kids. Ages 9, 7, 4, and 1. Another kid is 50/50 right now. Right now my truck suits us just fine. We can go anywhere, and pull anything. I've done a lot to the truck in the years that I've had it, and as it sits now it's everything I've ever wanted in a truck since I was a young kid and saw my first lifted truck.

With eyeing up the Yukon XL lately I've also been thinking about a diesel. Only because I know I will have to tow 6k+ pounds every so often, and we can rent campers and boats from base whenever we want. Also whenever we get reassigned those long cross country trips it would be nice to be sitting in a Denali package ha ha.

In the last week I came across a "DuraKon". The specifics on what I'm talking about is a 06' GMC 2500 Yukon Denali XL. It has the 6.6L Duramax LBZ engine and 6 speed Allison Transmission. It is also 4 wheel drive which I need out here in the NW. It has 106k on the clock, with stock 3/4 suspension. This guy turns these out every once in a while, and he just listed this one.

I've been battling myself every single day since then. I love my truck because I can throw just about anything in there without worry about getting it dirty. The space is enough as well. The short bed on the truck is 5'8" and I want to say through my research that the Yukon XL has a 4'3" "bed"?

I guess I'm looking for help to convince me more that I need a Yukon XL lol!

Ya I think I got my yukon over a truck was the fact I can still haul stuff, 3rd row for hauling people if needed plus if I need to haul some big stuff it'll pull a trailer no problem.

Another plus for me being in the Midwest I notice the gm trucks rust out way worse then the tahoe/yukons. The xls and suburbans seem to get some in front of the rear wheels but still way better then boxsides, rockers and cab corners on trucks.

I bought mine because it was cheep and then I found out kid #3 was coming and after all this I fell in love with the truck. Now just finshed the 6.0 swap and 4L65e. Loving every minute driving it

Love the real bumpers on the NBS. The plastic non-offensive princess bumpers on my NNBS was obviously designed by politically correct lawyers.

Three kids, dog (wife somewhere in there...), etc. I also like lots of head room. We outgrew my 08 Envoy, which was an awesome SUV. It just got too small. The only thing I didn't like about it was the lack of head room. The Tahoe is cavernous. If i didn't have a dog I would have probably gone with a crew cab Sierra or one of its siblings. What I can't get in the Tahoe I can easily pull in my battle trailer. I've got the best of both worlds now.

Because SUVs handle better in snow than pickups

i concur before i got out of the army i was stationed back home at ft lewis washington and one winter when i still owned my 08 ford ranger fx4 we had alotta snow one winter and man where ever the rroads were really icy with not much compact snow i almost had to have it in 4hi to get traction and with a truck in order to get the sandbag method to work good i had to put like at least a dozen 50 lb sandbags over the back axle
suv's carry more of there weight over the rear axle

This is my truck. Now it sits on 37's. I regeared my truck 6 years ago knowing one day I would get 37's.

I run my own business as a professional auto detailer and I'm mobile I travel where the cars are rather than them coming to me. Which means I carry all my gear every day. Every salesman wanted to put me in a truck when I was car buying last year and leaning towards the denali XL. Having an enclosed suv means my gear stays dry through any weather conditions and I don't have to unload every time weather turns wet. It stays secure when I'm in and out of the car. Its much more convenient than a truck bed. Yes I could buy a dhell or a bed cover but they are super expensive. I got my car for exactly what price I wanted and didn't have to spend extra on a bed cover. The suv allows more room for my nephew and nieces when I pick them up. Plus during the winter months when I drive in the snow my suv handles much better in the snow than any truck I've driven. Much more stable and never once gotten it stuck. Just some of my reasons for choosing an suv verses a truck.
