Im all about it.... With my BB tune the corn gas really wakes up the ol' girl......I don't care what anyone says my truck runs better on the ethanol........ GO CORN! Maybe someday we can follow in Brazil's footsteps and offer 100% ethanol at the pump.

And the Denali and Escalade dont have the same engine...or...didnt...at least the NBS didnt... you say they both run the same engine in the NNBS?
07+ Escalades, Denali's, it's an option on the 09+ Tahoes (Might be an option on the Silverado/Sierra or it's standard, not sure), 08-09 H2 (09 was last production year), newest Camaro SS... missing anything?

Escalade engine = Denali engine = L92 engine

The gas fuel door calls for premium fuel, manual calls for premium fuel.

I drive the same routine every week. Same highway miles, same city mileage. Refuel less than a tank a week. I measure with the pump gallon number and the mileage on the odometer. Don't know what you want me to say, I consistently get different numbers with different gas.

I do too--- while i havent tried this on my denali b/c im not putting 87 in it, but on every other suv ive had--- two pathfinders and 05 yukon- i tried using different grades of fuel and it varied by .5-1.5 mpg and since another engine isnt reinventing the wheel i would imagine the same results would be obtained and are obtained with the denali--- i go 65mph and get 21.1 on a 130 mile drive to ohare intl airport from south bend in that equates to a 546 mile range!

do what you want but to say there isnt a performance difference or no other gain realized is incorrect

you ask why.. I ask why not?
my tune calls for 91 octane but even before I was running 91 and noticed a difference in performance
not to mention if you get Chevron 91 you are getting techron which is some good shit from what I've read.. cleans your engine

I just like knowing I'm not that punk kid at the gas station filling up his civic beater with regular and bitching about gas prices..

I'm that punk kid at the gas station filling up his hoopty tahoe with premium bitching about having a huge ass tank that I have to fill :D

If your engine calls for it, then you need the high octane fuel. (ie. 6.2's) With a 5.3 there is still no reason to do it. And again, just because it is high octane DOES NOT MEAN IT IS BETTER FUEL. If you want good fuel, go to Shell or Chevron,. but it does not matter what octane you use unless you are like stevek with a 6.2.

I figured this would get different responses, which is why I said do what the owners manual says. Obviously if it calls for premium, then use it. I think we could go days on the topic about the performance of 91 vs 87 but when I hear certified mechanics eveyone single one I have ever asked and read online that there is no gain in using 91 over 87 then I'm inclined to believe it. But in the end use what you want or what makes you happy.

Ok I am going to go against the "super mod" here. First running premium in an engine designed for 87 can cause carbon build up, higher emissions, stressing the catalytic converter to get rid of the unburnt fuel and a lighter wallet.

Second is the royal purple. It has been shown over at bobistheoilguy that royal purple shears down easily and is not that great of an oil and can cause higher than normal wear numbers in used oil analysis during extended drain intervals. This has been proven and not just speculation. Amsoil stomps royal purple into the pavement. If it is an over the counter oil you want then pennzoil ultra is impossible to beat and has been shown to go 10K+ and still have active additive left. I myself wouldnt run royal purple if you paid me to but thats just me. Not after some of the stuff I have seen.
