What should I do with to my side steps?

Hoping to get some opinions, just bought an 05 escalade. The rear bumper and side steps are faded and I'm considering a few different things I could do

Option #1) Use some sort of trim restorer and bring back the black

Option #2) Plasti-dip them white to be somewhat color matched to the rest of the truck. If I go this route I'll use 2-3 coats of glossifier so they don't get stained

Option #3) get some 6 inch 3M chrome tape and make em shiny

Option #4) leave em be and sport the faded look LOL


Any feedback much appreciated!!

Me personally I would choose either option 1 for stock look or option 2 for a custom look.

Thanks for the input! I was starting to get worried with 40+ views and no comments lol. I'm heavily leaning to option #2. Think I'm gonna go for the anti-murder look. I never liked the all black and even if I did it's just way too played out.

I'm also thinking of plasti-dipping the wheels white or throwing on some dust covers and dipping those white, maybe I'll dip both the antennas on top white too LOL

I use to have excellent results from a Turtle Wax product called Black Chrome, it's a liquid wax/sealant/cleaner product that brings faded black plastic to practically brand new! Not sure if they make the stuff anymore, I've had the bottle I have for years now!

I used the turtle wax trim restorer and it didn't do much, I've been told mothers back to black is better. I'm kind of torn between dipping them white and doing the chrome tape but I haven't been able to find much on that..

Been doing some research on the dip and there's a "pearlizer" which looks identical to the diamond white so that's what I'm gonna do. Wheels, side steps, rear bumper pad, plastic under the hood. I might even do the interior before I install my wood kit

do you mean only the black parts of the steps? or the paint aswell? if it is the black plastics where you step on i would restore them black which is the easiest thing to do

Exactly what I'm talking about LOL I'm sure restoring them would be easier given the right product but I'd rather color match. Should only take about 10 min per piece of prep work then waiting between coats, from what I read as long as you use some glossifier it cleans up easy.

Wish I could remember what we used at the dealer, it was a foil type bag with basically two baby wipes and some chemical.....it'd restore the whole backside of an avalanche

if its the plastic from the steps i would not paint it or even less plastidipp it because since you are stepping on it it will eventually start to chip or peal and in the long run it will look worse IMO.. the rear plastics from the bumpers can look good plastidipped gloss but i would sand them down to make them smooth

I'd vote cleaning them back up like option 1 and keep the standard look.
