What's that little black thing on top of roof?

Here's a dumb question. I have this little black box that's attached to the right side of my roof. Any idea what that could be? I have an antenna attached on the left side and I'm sure that's for the XM radio. Could the black box be for the same thing?

On my '03 YXL the one on the right is for and says XM. The one on the left is ONSTAR.

Anything after about 04 has the XM and OnStar combined into one...the shark fin shaped antenna.

THANKS! I was looking at a bunch of Tahoes/Yukons/Burbans to compare but not all of them have it. Mine is an 04. It's kinda ugly and wanted to take it off but since it's useful, I'll leave it on. Thanks again!

Almost correct, they didn't bring out the shark fin antenna until 2006. But they did combine them in 2004.
