the problem with that is that with the heating up and cooling down, condensation is created. If it is completely sealed then it has no where to go and no fresh air to replace it with.

Some caps have vent's to prevent condensation....but sometimes you jut cannot prevent it.

Well went about a week, and got my P0306 code. Truck still idles/accelerates smoothly, and this problem only happens when going uphill while trying to maintain a specific speed(say w/cruise control), but perfect all other times. I'm going to leave it for now, but will keep an eye on it, while trying not to do this>>>> :emotions122:

at least it is just you number six cylinder and is easy to inspect.

if the ignition does not solve problem you may need to increase valve guide clearance.

I would have thought that the heat of the motor would burn away any condensation in the cap. Never had a condensation problem with my '89 Maxima, and it's totally sealed.

As far as the P0306 code I read somewhere to watch out for the heat shield coming loose near the spark plugs. As it turns out the one by the #6/4 plugs is broken @ the bolt on the #6 side, and sits closer to the plug/wire boot. It might do nothing, but I moved it away from the plug/boot for now to see if the code reappears.

Well moving the heat shield did nada...as I figured.
Why didnt GM put the ODBII codes more specific(ie. Low fuel pump pressure has its own code...not as a misfire...etc.) so that finding the culprit of this code wasn't so damn hard.
Only misfires, and sets code cruising at one speed up hills......ridiculous!!

On the spark plug gaps.... I'm deducing based on other posts that the .040 gap bulletin does not apply to my '99 Tahoe(OBS)??
I'm running the 41-993's @.060... when I pulled them it looked like they were occasionally firing off to the base rather than the ground strap. This could cause a misfire ...no?

They did do fuel pressure sensing just not in 1999, you require AC Delco 41-993 pre-gapped at .060 unless you are running a modified engine or ignition. You got pics of this base firing you speak of.

No pictures. I checked the gap when I pulled 'em, and re-installed 'em(putting them in different spots). Changed the wires, cap and rotor.
The truck runs great around town, never hesitates when I get on it, and only does it if I'm cruising up @ least a 20degree or so incline on a road( I tried cruising it @ different speeds...didn't matter). If I constantly accelerate up that same inclined roadway, SES does not set.
I'm going to check to make sure there are no spots on the air intake that may be loose, being that I removed the intake when I did the plugs/cap/rotor.
I read on another site where someone had the same symptom as me, and they found that more air was being pulled in under load, and somehow this messed with the MAFS, and caused it to lean out the gas supply, and create a misfire.
Fingers and nuggets crossed.

P.S.---- Sunlit....Wicked says it might have been you that got me the part# for the air intake hold down wing-nut........ Thanks if it was....spot on.
