Clearing the grease off the tip of the sensor worked for quite a while, but the issue slowly came back and got unbearable. I got a Timken bearing from RockAuto a month ago and finally got around to installing it over the last couple days. Boy, it sure was fun getting the old one off! I replaced the right-side bearing and glad my memory worked since I really didn't remember what side was bad.
Note for anyone doing this: I've seen it mentioned in several places that an improperly torqued spindle-nut is the main cause for quick bearing failure.
The good news is that the issue is gone. The bad news is there's now a weird "tire-roll" when turning. It seems worse when reversing. I seem to remember the truck doing this when I first got it. Since it's a new problem, I'll post a new topic.
