im wondering what size wheel and offset i will need to run 315/75 r 16 on my 96 tahoe sport? i plan on a body lift and wondering how much i will have to turn the bars up to clear them? i want the wheels to be at least flush with the fender flares or out just a little. can you guys post pics of 16" wheel setups? thanks

Stock wheels will be best to clear.

Skinnier wheels with back spacing around 5", no more than 4.5". The wider the wheels the more rubbing you'll get.

Many people run your planned set up and dont be upset if and when you get a little rubbing. My tahoe is 8" of lift and I had to trim to clear a 35 on a 17x9 with 4.5" BS...minor trimming at teh back of the wheel well.

in the end it will look good though!

A 285 on a x8 or x9 wheel with 4.5" back spacing will sit them just past the flares

So on a 16x8 with -6 offset (4.25) backspace, what would you run, a 295/75/16 or a 305/70/16?

I like the height of the 295 but the 305 is wider and a little shorter. Im looking for my tires to stick out just beyond the OE fender flares.

i think i found some rims but the guy doesnt know if they are 9 or 10 inches wide cause they still have tires on them. he said they have a 5.5 backspace and stick out about an inch or so out past the fender with 265/75 r 17. do you guys think they will fit with a 285/75r 17 or bigger? thanks

5.5 backspace is the same as stock. Stock rims are 7" wide. If the wheels are 9 or 10" wide, I don't think they'll fit without rubbing the frame or arms.

I think that if you want to go with that much backspace you'll need a 7 or 8 inch wide wheel at most.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong

You should find an alignment shop with a new state of the art rack that does 3d imaging to find out your scrub radius and they can type in your proposed tire size, then they can calculate offset needed to keep your scrub radius perfect.
