Wheel offset

2005 tahoe ls. 2.5" keys. 1.5" spacers. Z71 springs. Bilstein shocks. I love the height of the truck but the stock wheels look tucked under the fenders to much. I'm looking for a wheel with a offset that will bring the tires out just flush with the factory flares but I don't really know where to start. Ive searched the forum but haven't found what I'm looking for. I want a 17" or 18" wheel. Does a 17" x 9" wheel with a -12mm offset sound like it would do the job? Thanks in advance...any help/pictures of trucks with a similar setup would be greatly appreciated.

This is how far my tires stuck out with fuel 17x9's and 35x12.50 tires...
....and this is the offset with 20x14's and 35x12.50's still lol

No pictures, but why not just measure from the tire sidewall to the fender lip? You can use an eyeball or level, but either would get you close. Then look at wheels and see what it available in the offset (stock + measured difference) close to what you measured.

Most oe wheel backspacing is somewhere in the 5.5" range usually, idk what that equates to on a 7.5" wide wheel, but I'd image it's like +6-12mm

How about wheel spacers? Do they last and are they safe?

im getting some 2" spacers for my rear wheels to make my tires look even after a spindle lift

My 16x8 MB wheels have a +6 offset, whereas "factory" offset versions had a -25.... so mine stick out 1 1/4" more (about 31mm) than factory. Pretty much even with the fenders on the rear.

My signature pic has 1 1/2" spacers on the rear, I like the wider stance.

with the 1.5" spacers did you have any problems clearing the studs? did you have to trim them?

My 16x8 MB wheels have a +6 offset, whereas "factory" offset versions had a -25.... so mine stick out 1 1/4" more (about 31mm) than factory. Pretty much even with the fenders on the rear.

Yes with 1 1/2 " spacers you have to trim the starter nipple off. Just use the nuts that come with the spacer and screw them on the lugs. Then use a band saw to trim, unscrew the nuts to make sure the threads are still good and your set. I've done 2 trucks like this.
