I have this awesome 1996 black 2 door Tahoe and I'm replacing my serpentine belt and I need to know which alt I have... I looked under the hood but no info there on alt. I do not have owners manual.

unknown at this time.
Stock is 105. All edges will be round looking with about three vent hole on back cover. With some bracket bracing in the back too. usually know as Cs130.

Depends on the number of power options you have. Heated mirrors? heated seats? 6-8 speaker stereo? Mine has the 120 from the factory and it's not noticeably different from the 105. Best way to find out is take your VIN to the dealer and ask them to look it up.

Sorry if this is a thread highjacking but............

Are they interchangable?
Could someone with a 105 amp replace it with a 120 amp plus the appropriate belt?
Thanks,
Tbruz

Is it internal fan like the 105 or external plastic disc fan like the 140?

Yes they are interchangable, the only way to know with 100% certainty is to take in your old belt or take off your alternator. The OE paperwork I got with the truck said I had a 120, when I finally upgraded it, it was a 105.

Thanks for the reply!
I just went to the dealer and gave them my vin #
I had to pay alittle more but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

The alt will have a stamped value on it... mine had a 105a alt. When it died years ago, I upgraded to an aftermarket ** 220a (large case) and have been very happy with the results.

This. Any parts store worth anything should be able to measure the belt and get you the right one. Anybody doing this who knows the hell they are doing should be able to research an alternator quickly using just this.

Did the same, that AD244 is massive and I don't have to worry about anything anymore lol.
