So yeah, it's basically what you said and I surmised earlier in the thread ...
- If one wants a handheld/dash mount tuner with decent basic 'canned' tunes and easy interface, the DS is a good choice. Although I'm not sure how much 'dyno testing' is involved in developing them since DS asks their customers to send in their stock tunes for development, so it would seem that a lot of the programming is based on that.
- If you have a DS Trinity or Intune and want a mail order custom tune, you can send it to adorable Lew and have him customize it, you know as long as nothing more insanely extravagant as a CAI is involved, cause of the aforementioned discomfort and stuff.
In all seriousness, are Lews tunes actually custom, or just tweaks of the preset canned tunes? Cause there's a difference as I understand it.
- Someone like Johan can do a true custom tune, presumably taking advantage of the bull breadth of the Trinity/Intune potential ... that seems to be the most serious approach, the only one comparable to a BB tune, and hopefully the only method which does not result into the Diablosport forum being inundated with complaints and gripes.
I'm honestly not hating, but I did go over there last night and it's rather worrisome for anyone considering their product. I do appreciate that rarely do folks register on a vendors website to hand out huggles and I love yous, and it's usually to report an issue, but still, there seem to be a lot of issues. And in fairness, I googled the mofo out of Blackbear Tune before I purchased mine and was hard pressed to find a negative comment around the web. It just is what it is.
Anyhoot, hopefully Johan can chime in.
I'm off to get lubed ...
