Having my 2011 Yukon XL transmission replaced.. I know my manifold bolts on the engine need to be done, anything else that would be preventative or smart to investigate while we in there?

Since the starter is out, great time to replace the crankshaft position sensor with an ACDelco or genuine GM one. Located behind and above the starter. And if that's the original starter, I'd also replace it with an AC Delco unit. New, not rebuilt.

When doing the rear main seal, you will note that GM puts the seal flush to the outside of the seal bore in the cover. It's pretty common to go ahead and drive the seal in further against the recessed flange. Maybe 1/8 of an inch deeper at most. That ensures your seal will be running in a different spot on the crankshaft that doesn't have any wear. I'd recommend the felpro rear main seal. And note that it goes on dry.
