Thinking I have a blown head gasket. About half way to my vacation rental for the week and waiting on my dad to bring another vehicle and a trailer to tow my back for me.
What would the other Gm owners on here recommend? New motor, fix and overhaul existing motor??
Just replaced the junk valve cover last Saturday and finished my leveling and new(old) rims. Literally just got this thing the way I like it. Has 204400 miles but it's mine. Really sucks!

White smoke and fouled plugs would definitely be an indicator that your getting coolant into the cylinders. Could be intake gasket but only losing one cylinder id say head gasket. If you really like the truck i say it get fixed properly.

Well i would also like to comment in a more serious note. Dont let it bog you down in the rest of your life. Sometimes its best to cut things loose and move to the next. Ive had to make that decision on a few vehicles i invested alot of time and money into.

Coming from someone currently rebuilding their Duramax LLY with a massive head gasket failure that took out the turbo, I would fix it. The cost to rebuild my engine including all of the internals (pistons, rings, rods, lifters, bearings, etc) plus machining the heads, block, crank and replacing all of the gaskets is about $6000, and that's on a diesel with someone else doing the machining. You shouldn't need to have the block and stuff touched so I would pull it apart, take the heads and have them decked, cleaned, pressure checked and have any bad valves replaced. Then buy a new head gasket kit and put it all back together. If it can be done while the engine is in the truck, then I would imagine it shouldn't take more than two weeks a few hours a night. But hey, that's just me! I hate dumping money into a vehicle just to "cut it loose" and replace it with another one that has a massive payment or more problems. Mine as well keep it and fix it at this point.

Decided to go ahead a do a complete build. I've got the truck the way I want it minus the brand new wheels and tires. With the fresh engine and transmission tune I should be good for another 200,000.
