120k on mine no problems. Now that I said that it will probably be time to replace now

My '12 Callaway Tahoe is at 103k miles right now with no engine problems to date. Did replace the rear end about 20k miles ago but that's a different story...

Plan on adding a supercharger to my Denali when I get it next month.

Like I said I have 55k miles in the super charger... About 80-85k mikes total... No problems with mounts...

Now , I will say, under extreme circumstances... Above 6000' elevations, above 90 degree f outside temps and a long uphill climb over a pass... And my engine temp creeps up higher than I want... Under those conditions, I turn the heater on full blast and it normalizes temps fast... It is only in really unusual conditions where temps creep up... So I manage it manually....

I get all of that. I had a supercharger on my 4.3L S10 (with the poppet nozzle injection :badidea: )

Those issues, as well as the supporting mods fifty listed, are all a result of modifying the engine for more power. What I was trying to understand is how there seems to be a huge percentage of GMT900 owners with minimal or even no power mods with mounts that broke at relatively low mileages, yet there are those with increased power on stock aged mounts with no problems. My intent is not to regurgitate rants on a known issue about which almost nothing is being done (such as the cracked dash). What I was really aiming for was to see if those with the big power adders had different mounts and have just never spoke up about them because, well, broken mounts just aren't a "thing" for them so it's not on their mind. Then I learned of the Callaway conversions that actually complement the GM factory warranty. My thinking was that if the stock mounts are marginally adequate at best on an unmodified car, then surely they'd fail very soon on one with well over 100 more HP and TQ. Being that Callaway has to support their product in conjunction with GM, they would have proactively replace the mounts. Everything else down the driveline doesn't fall into this category as it's far more than just "marginally adequate" even with the extra power. Premature failures of these components (U-joints, differential, bushings, etc.) can be pinned on excessive abuse of, and not as a direct result of the extra power. I guess I was more hoping that Callaway knew of the weak mount issue and had a solution for it so they wouldn't have their cars coming back to them in short order for warranty replacement of the mounts. And maybe it's just that the Callaway Edition owners (how far and few between they are) never knew of this one small detail and so never mentioned it. I mean, if I could afford such a car, I probably wouldn't do much under the hood myself, much less inspect the engine mounts.

I have no idea what the weak links are on the 6.2 and 8 speed, and where the tq limits are on the car with all factory parts. (And heat limits)

I haven't really stopped to think about the ancillary stuff until lately. Some cars you can double the power with out blinking and some have huge issues at their stock level even with out abuse.

In the Subaru realm for instance, the stock motor and trans mount cannot handle stock power on an STi even under normal wear and tear. They will rip apart. The upgraded "group n" "homologated race spec" will hold about +50 tq before dying in the same time frame.
Also in that car, the wrx, the lower hp version, the 5 speed can't handle the tq the motor produces and the case flexes causing the gears to catch and grenade. So even for stock power levels you have to reinforce the transmission or cross your fingers every time you shift over 3k...

My old Ford F-350 7.3 had chassis mounts that could not keep up with the twist in the frame and weight on a stock truck and are known to die in under 40k...
People hunt squeaks and bangs for thousands of dollars looking for that one.

Old, new, domestic, foreign...all cars have weak links. And when adding power adders it's nice to know what these are and fix them proactively!

Hennessey has been getting up to 1000hp out of our trucks. It may be a good place to start looking at motor mounts with those guys since they are putting out crazy power numbers like that . I would venture to say they have explored the issue.

I am on my third Callaway and currently own a 2016 XL SC560 and a 15 SC560 both Denalis. I have posed quite a few questions about power mods to the folks at Callaway and have spent some time with Reeves himself and their position is that the SC560 mod package is basically bulletproof and reliable as stock so they stopped at the 560 hp mark for our trucks.

As far as reliability goes I used the Callaway shop truck for a day which was a Sierra SC460 with 150k miles on it and it was strong as could be without showing any signs of age or being tired. I have total confidence in their products.


I am ready to go it on my own and go into a phase two on my Shorty Callaway Denali and do cam, long tube headers, headwork and drop it another 1-2 inches with some bigger brakes as well.

I love these trucks and between myself and my better half we have owned 3 Tahoes, 4 Escalades and 3 Denalis.

Still to this day my favorite truck was my 2010 PPV Tahoe that I ordered brand new from the dealer. I still want another PPV to build out. Lighter, better brakes, better cooling system and no frills makes it a perfect build platform.....one day

Doesn't callaway do anything with the internals of the motor?
