As my parents have finally had luck in selling their property, and my mom's 07 ESV is nearing 4 years old (and way out of warranty), she is starting to look into trading her Esky in for something new. This time it will not be long-wheel base.

By the way, if anyone is wondering, I am asking here instead of Cadillacforums.com because I trust you guys and you're all easy to deal with, and very helpful. Whereas at CF they get pretty snobby and some, as I have seen, are scared when people think their Escalade is quote (from a specific member) "an overly glorified cheapass Tahoe". Yeah, not dealing with those people.

The point of this thread: Why would you pick a 2010 Escalade over a 2010 Navigator or vice versa?

In my opinion, and basing this off her previous 2006 Limited Edition Navigator, I think they are a lot better. It drove a lot better than this thing, but of course her ESV is longer than her Navigator was so that could affect it.

Also, the wood in her esky still feels fake to me, if it's not. The Navigator's wood was real, or did a hell of a job looking and feeling real. The leather seats felt better and the cooled seats did not feel as...wet...as these in her ESV. However, we did NOT care for the automatic shut off of the heated/cooled seats in the Navigator.

As for exterior, the NNBS Escalades have too much chrome in my opinion whereas her previous Navi had just the right amount in the right places. Being a Limited Edition it didn't come with the cheap-looking chrome trim around the license plate. The NNBS Navigators have an intimidatingly excessive chrome grille, but there are always the aftermarket ones to replace it with (although my mom is not big into modding).

This is about all I can think of, and I want to be able to present my mom with some facts because lord knows she won't do the research herself. I know there will be some diehard GM fans that are totally against Ford, and that's fine, but I'm really looking for honest opinions and facts. Nothing harsh. Tell me why you would pick one over the other.

Just for the heck of it, this is why I personally like it better.

Before I bought the Denali I looked very seriously at Navigators. The fit and finish is much better on the Navigator, the ride is better, and the interior feels much more solid, not as cheap feeling. I was totally sold on it.

I changed my mind for a couple of reasons. The main one being the power of the Denali, and also, I'm a Chevy guy at heart. Another factor for me was that the GM producst are more sporty looking in my opinion. I have no idea why Ford doesn't bump the hp in the Navigator. If it had been more powerful that's what I would be driving.

The Navigator will get strong consideration again when it's time for me to trade.

Personally I think all FORD interiors are hideous. The wood on GM cars looks far better and more realistic. The FORD wood resembles straight grain pine wood which is never used in luxury cars.

I do agree the Escalade exterior is way over done but still looks better than the Navigators. The Front of the navigators are awful I don't even know what to call those grills they have. The 2006- front ends were much better looking.

The other thing I don't understand that FORD does is put the model name in the instrument panel. I think I know the car I bought not to have to be reminded that I am driving an expedition or navigator every time I look at the gauges.

It is all personal preference, but I would definitely drive an escalade any day over the navigator.

i have never driven either, but have sat in both. I personally would get the escalade, as previously mentioned, GM tends to have a sportier look. I think the escalade looks better on both inside and out. Granted she has had the escalade for 4 years and might want a change of scenery, but again escalade. As for the wood grain, im pretty sure its real in both and is just a preference thing, but i tell you what, my parents have lexus, and nothing beats their wood trim, ride, comfort, style, and awesomeness! haha but that wasnt a choice ...

i vote escalade

Thanks for the comments so far, and Lexus IS on my mom's list. :)

I agree that the GM vehicles look sportier, and that is a good reason to pick one, but that is not what my mom is really into herself, haha.

I'm not meaning to talk down the Escalade in any way, I really enjoy it and more importantly my mom does, but in my opinion I think she needs to at least try, as you say, "a change of scenery".

The navigator wood was not always straight grain pine, I remember her 2006 model having burlwood.

I appreciate the inputs and keep them coming.

I like em both and would drive both. The Nav doesnt seem to flow as well as the escalade to me though.

I prefer the Esclade. From what I've seen on the road, the Navs don't seem to "wear" well over time.

I much prefer that Esky interior to the Nav. Lincoln went over the top with the retro look inside, imo.

And the grill of the Nav looks like an electric razor to me.

Esky for me.

Drive each, spend a day with each one, if the dealer doesn't let you take it home for the night, find another dealer... Whichever you feel more comfortable with.

I will say that Caddys are easier to customize, better aftermarket support... If you care
