will an 8.1 bolt to a 4l60e

Ive had a 6.0 in my tahoe for a few months now after i blew the 5.3 i put a 5.7 in then the 6.0 and the 6.0 did feel like a bit more power then the 5.7 but now i want to go big block ive just got done buildin my 60e and dont want to have to go through that again but has anyone mounted or looked i no ill have to change y pipe and exaughst most likly but from what ive seen the bellhousing and flywheel look to be the same any thoughts on it??

no the 8.1 BB will not bolt to the 4l60.. you will want to find an alison to mate to the 496.. the bolt patterns for the SBC and BBC are different alone with the headers flanges..

Since when?

SBC and BBC have always had the same bell housing flange. many people will put a 700R4 behind a BBC. I can take a turbo 400 from behind a 454 and put it behind a 350 with only a converter and flex plate change.
I would put a 4L80e behind the 8.1 for cost reasons. but if money is no object, then an Allison with a stand alone control would be the ticket.

Headers are a given that will need to change.

That 496 won't bolt to the 60 maybe I should have worded it that way. Also the 496 torque output will tear apart the 60 you could do an 80 but still you have a weak link of the transmission.

Yea i figured so i have a 8.1 sittin in the shop that we rlbuilt for a customer and they didnt pay for it so figured id put it to some abuse and i just built the 60 to supposedly hold 700hp i origanlly planned to supercharge the 6.0 later in the summer since it already has forged internals i just didnt want to yank out the 6.0 and the 8.1 not work with minimal work
