I have heard the Focals, and the Polks. I have a set of the polk db 6.5 coaxials to go in the pontoon boat. I used to own the previous version of the Alpine type R components.
The infinity Kappa components I wasnt fond of. They sound great, but they have too much tweeter even dialed way down.
I loved my alpines but wanted something different, so I went with my RE components. Overall I like mine better. But i havent heard the new model so who knows.
The polks are great but Im not fond of them in a vehicle. They are better suited on boats. The tweeters are kind of harsh when confined in a vehicle.
If you are upping your budget some, I would go for these.

Awesome component set for the money. Had I had the extra $70 per pair I would have bought them in a heartbeat. Everything I have read says they are the best component set under $300 hands down.
