I have been drawing out a few different designs of front bumpers fitted for a winch, I have not had much luck finding online or hard copy custom designs to reference against. Can anyone recommend a good source of plans?

Thanks guys, I have been visiting a number of prebuilt and made to order sites for inspiration but I am looking for detailed draw ups or CAD's to reference my structure against. Has anyone come across anything like that or do most people just wing-it?

Thats about where I am at now, just searching for a bargin winch. I have another thread regarding the ProComp winch im leaning towards. I figure I will just get a design set out then tweek the winch mount point to fit. I take it no one else has had any luck finding referance matterial on bumper design? Seems like a close held secret by the few folks who fabricate bumpers as their primary source of income, which I can fully respect, just envy the folks who can afford to spoil their truck.

never came across much as far as bumper design. i think i still have some pictures that sort of show the mounts for my front bumper if that would help.

basically fab up the frame mounts to a winch plate (pretty straight forward) and then build off of that to suit however you want it to look. i am pretty amazed by how simple my bumper is when you break it down.

Thats exactly my plan, the bumper is in the works now because I have access to inexpensive materials and can do all the fab work myself. I have been looking at the "footprint" off all the major winches in my capacity range and plan to build and install the bumper, then mount the winch when I can fit that in my budget. So far my bumper project projected cost will be $130 for the plate steel, the roller fairlead and clevice's will actualy cost me more then the bumper itself. Thank god I have access to welding gear and my shops tools.

i like where the winch is mounted on that one. i won't lie mine sticks out a good bit past where the OE bumper and old brushguard did. would have been nice to pull it in closer to the truck.
