First off hello,been looking for a forum like this to discuss car maintenance. My wife’s Yukon Denali is experiencing a noise from the engine bay. Winding noise when driving. I popped the hood and notice there was an exposed tubing and wanted to find out what it was before taking it to mechanic. Any help is appreciated. Hose and metal component with hold attached.

that is just a ground strap, the bottom part should be attached to the firewall just below, if you look on the firewall you should be able to tell where it came off and just re-attach it, that's probably not the source of your noise though

@Alan Griffin,

Winding noise, or whining noise?

The hood ground goes to the stud on the firewall, in the green/yellow circle:

Might be a good idea to remove both ends, clean and inspect all mating surfaces, and reinstall. While you're at it, I'd recommend that for the firewall-to-engine ground, too (in the red square). You could be hearing alternator whine caused by bad grounds.

are you talking about in the hood above where the strap bolts on? no idea could have been some kind of clip or maybe a previous owner had something mounted there, nothing to worry about just a hole

Maybe the one below the hood ground connection? Orange arrow in my pic. Probably factory hole.
