Hey everyone,

I have an 2002 Tahoe with stock tint on the back 5 windows and have an appointment to tint the front 2 but I want to go darker all the way around. Any advice as to what percentage to go with?

My interior is light and I have a sunroof which is never closed, so my interior is pretty brightly lit.

Thank you :D

Hmmmm not sure on going darker all the way around as far as what % you want. If you are dealing with a reputable shop they should be able to make a recommendation that will fit your needs.

In my case I was happy with the factory tint and just went with a matching tint for my driver/passenger windows.

Also be sure they use the good quality film. It's not that much more and won't change color over time.

I ran 30% on the front, and another layer of 18% over all the rears. For the rear it's perfect, you can still see out pretty good, but you can't see in at all. Even have some night view as well.

The front minimum I would go is 20%. But it also depends on your city/state laws regarding tint. You need to look it up.

Thank you both for the information :D I am just a little bit excited to get done finally! @4WDTRK- I've seen the shop's work done first hand and the guys are great, but when dealing with anything automotive I know that most places don't necessarily give women credit for knowing what they want. They tend to push up-sales and I just don't want to be taken advantage of.
@YukonXL04- that sounds more like what I am looking for, dark enough to leave stuff in the car without worrying about it, looking good and still safe enough to view out of. I know that in CA front window tinting is illegal, so we shall see how fast I get pulled over :D

Sooooo many people running tint in CA. I guess if the CHP doesn't have anything else to do. I think most of the time they get you for it if you already got pulled over for a different moving violation.

Yes there are plenty of front windows tinted here, us Californians can be trouble lol! You are right most officers won't specifically pull over for tinted reason but it does give them probable cause :(

30%-35% wil match pretty good. The problem is the rear glass is a "privacy" glass and has no reflective properties what so ever. So it doesn't keep heat out or block the UV or anything, it's just for privacy. The tint you are putting on the front will do both.

My last truck had 5% over stock, and 5% on the front windows. Man I miss it sometimes... but wasn't worth the inspection trouble and rolling the windows down when passing cops lol
