Back in the carb days I would flip the lid to the air cleaner housing to let in more air. Would removing the top cover of the air cleaner assembly do anything for me on my 97 Yukon? Help it suck in some more air?? Maybe then swap to a "performance" air filter?

I've heard of people doing the "swiss cheese" mod, but never just completely removing the cover to the air box. I agree... a CAI would be the best, otherwise I probably wouldn't even mess with it.

LOL, no I'm not. I have never done this, nor would I in the future. I've actually got a CAI waiting for me across town. I just need to go pick it up when I have time this week or early next week.
