I'm in the market for a '17 Yukon Denali. Even though I don't tow, I have two kids and there's a lot to like about the Yukon. We take at least one long road trip a year and the comfort is a strong factor. I have a preference for the 6.2 and the 8 speed so that's where the Denali comes in.

I could get comparable room in a Chevy Traverse. Not sure how the new '18's drive though.

After seeing that Consumer Reports ranked the Yukon/Tahoe 8th out of 10 with 51 out of 100 points, would you buy it again?

From their perspective it's completely unreliable, won't handle accident avoidance, etc.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I love the Suburban and love the Yukon XL Denali even more. But I am concerned about a few things when compared to the 2018 Ford Expedition. CR rates Expy higher in quality, safety, and roll over avoidance. We'll see in real world tests. But what I love about the Suburban is the history, the way it looks inside and out, and the way it drives.

I know, first world problems: which $80,000 vehicle to buy...

I got the second row captains chairs. made it much easier to get into the third row for the kids.

That makes sense. Are you ever in the situation where you are taking your whole family and the inlaws for example? Or that rare occasion where you wished you had one more seat? Or do you just think for the 99.99% of the time, captains chairs provides the best comfort... That's another thing I spend way too much time thinking about. I have 3 kids.

And so they said about our four Expeditions. We had one problem and it was fixed under warranty.

I haven't had my Yukon long enough to say yet but I bought it from my daughter who purchased a new one identical to this one but for color. So clearly they are happy with them.

I have two kids and occasionally mother in law and kids 2 cousins... I just like captains chairs because it's easier to get to third row and for keeping my boys apart for longer trips...

NO! Gm won't stand behind their product. Dash is cracked and inside door handles will cut your fingers, but GM says we are on our own.

I'd buy my 2008 Tahoe again. I really enjoy the styling, room, comfort, and tons of features. The only thing I regret is not researching the known, chronic issues BEFOREHAND in order to budget more effectively to deal with and pay for them.

Spending time on this forum reveals that there's a fair number of small and moderate sized issues, plus a few bigger ones. Like with anything else, nothing is perfect----but it helps to know what you're getting into before pulling the trigger.

I'm on my third Tahoe. Had a 2008 Z71, then a 2012 LTZ, and now a 2017 Tahoe Premier. I like the space I get inside. This time I opted for a bench seat in the second row, but we rarely have anyone back there. I'm getting petty stiff in my joints so the Tahoe is about the only think I can climb into other than a truck which I don't need.

In between the Tahoes, we had a Lexus 2009 RX-330 (too small), and a 2011 Lincoln MKX (junk!). Those made my decision to go back to a Tahoe very easy. I would like to have gone with a Yukon Denali, but the extra $10K for the same thing I got (except engine and trans.) with my Premier wasn't worth it in my opinion.

Most people who never have problems ever seek advice from a forum and those of us on here are a small fraction of owners.

I'm on my 3rd size GM fullsize SUV and would gladly buy another. Much like anything, some people are snakebite with certain manf's whether it be cars, washing machines, etc.
