my wife’s lease is up in a few months and im able to buy a new PPV or SSV Tahoe. Brand new from a dealer because of my work. Im waiting for the 2023’s to come in, they are saying maybe November. Would you buy one of them for the wife or go with a higher trim level one? My friend just got one for himself and it’s pretty nicely equipped. Has a console and really doesn’t look bad on the inside. Even the rubber floors are pretty nice. What’s the opinion? The pic is of my co workers but would probably be very similar, this is a 2022.

Agreed with above

But you also need to keep in mind availability / allocations. Depending when your lease is up compared to when a dealer will actually be able to provide you either PPV or other trim. Not sure if allocations work differently on PPV but majority of dealers are still trying to gets orders placed for 2022s filled as 2023s.

Thanks, I know the obvious factor is the wife but my obvious factor is the cost. I was wondering by others experience with them if it’s worth the savings. I know I can get a 4wd PPV brand new around 44k before taxes and tags.

SWMBO will definitely have the last say in the matter, or you'll never hear the end of it, but my bride would be all over that, since ex-service vehicles is all she'll drive. We see great value in them, but some folks want the pillow-like ride other vehicles have and want to be entertained instead of actually driving these days.

Do not get your hopes up, chances are if GM audits that dealer and you are not a government customer or upfitter with approval from GM your order will be cancelled. GM has required all 2022 and 2023 Tahoe PPV/SSV orders to have government purchase orders or RFPs pre-attached to the order. It may also cause GM to go and cut orders that the dealer has as well. I know a few dealers had orders cut by 10-20% due to those orders not having POs attached to them already.

Now if you are able to with no issues, I would go with the SSV for your wife. The PPV is very much a police vehicle with stiff handling and suspension, big steelies. The SSV is closer to a retail version and a bit less obvious as a police vehicle along with some more comfortable suspension. Benefits of both is there is very minimum badging on the vehicle with only the front and rear bowties both come in black from the factory.

44K sounds awful cheap for a new Tahoe. Doesn’t a regular Tahoe cost 60-80K?

That's around the price a dealer is paying for a SSV/PPV and that's prior to bid assistance from GM. MSRP before options on a PPV/SSV is around $46-48k.
