I removed the ABS module Sunday (didn't disconnect battery ---- my bad.. didn't even unlock vehicle). I made sure the vehicle was locked afterwards. Came back today battery was completely dead.... not even enough juice to start with a portable jump starter. Not even enough juice to check CCAs. On thursday or so I checked the CCAs, had about 750 or so left.... the battery was only 2 weeks old at that point.... any thoughts on whether the security or something was on overdrive since it was looking for a module ?

Swapped new battery in... Charging voltage appears to be 13.9V.... with AC running around ~13.4V.... any reason to suspect alternator here ?

On my non-smart carbureted old trucks, I'm used to seeing about 14.5V while the engine is running... any good threads to read on what a good charging voltage on GMT800 is ?

Needless to say I have the battery disconnected now until my module arrives from repair... (I've understood I could even drive the vehicle without the module but I didn't want to so its been sitting)

Installed the ABS module that came back from the eBay service (rapid_electronics). For $79 it was excellent service. 24 hour turnaround!! Mailed on Monday received back Friday.

Nice to not have ABS and brake light glaring at you !

I may have a battery discharge problem maybe from malfunctioning door sensors or ignition lock cylinder (potentially), I’ll open a separate thread on this…

I did the NNBS front brake upgrade.
I bought coated Raybestos Element3 rotors and pads.
I got lucky with my local wrecker had calipers that looked like they were put on the day the car was wrecked....

Went super smooth and they work great.

Changed out the tires that came with my 05 tahoe: went from the yokohama yk-htx 285/45/22 to sumitomo encounter ht2 275/50/22. Happy with the change

I messed around and traded my old faithful gear off road 20x9s w 275/65/20s (34.6") for a set of 35x12.50x20 with a 20x13 offset. They look really good i think. Also a pretty big tire to be running with just two inch body blocks and no lift kit, minimal rubbing. Cons of trading i sacrificed turning radius forsure

I drove my 2001 Tahoe 750 miles this weekend from Virginia Beach, VA to Williamsburg, VA then to Wilmington, NC to see and be with family and friends for a long weekend. My speed was between 70 & 80 mph and still returned 16.8 mpg overall with 4 adults and their suitcases on board.
Not a single problem with this 23 year old Tahoe. All I need to do is give it a bath.

I didn't have time to post on Monday, but I crawled underneath my 2005 Z71 for a quick inspection and noticed that there were some bare looking patches from my NHOU undercoating about a year and a half ago. I've since purchased my own sprayer and had about 2 quarts of Fluid film left over from spraying my Tacoma a couple of weeks ago.

I pulled the Tahoe out of the garage (after I had wire brushed what I could reach) and ended up using both quarts touching up the frame. I also dropped the spare down and hit that area under that good. I pressure washed the body to remove the over spray and loaded 3 of our dogs in the back to go down some area dirt roads to harden up the Fluid film.
