Headlight rods just spinning on my 97 Tahoe

Just to further clarify, the actual lens ends up between an eighth and a quarter inch higher with respect to the actual mount than the original light. That makes a big difference on a 20 year old grille. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Headlight rods just spinning on my 97 Tahoe

I hadn't tried adjusting them yet because they mounted so high the grille didn't sit as nice and I had to struggle with the grille to get it to line up. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Trying to find the right grille part number for my 97 tahoe

I recently had to pull the grille and came to the realization that they all aren't the same! The videos I saw all talked about 10 screws, etc. Except the one I finally found that showed mine...4 screws across the top, one in the center, and then a few tabs on the bottom that it just slips into...

Headlight rods just spinning on my 97 Tahoe

Got some Dorman lights...hate'em. Seem to sit way too high and barely got grille back on. Pointed so high out of the box looks like a spotlight for a sale. Now that I've taken the grille off...I'm thinking about just going back to the original lights (damn the hazy lenses) and replace the bulbs.

Headlight rods just spinning on my 97 Tahoe

Yes those are the ones I was trying...saw all the videos :) Given the cost of oem on this ($90 per side) hard to justify going that route to be honest since it will really look silly if I only replace one side. I haven't even tried to get the driver side loose yet. Im gonna pull the grill this...

After replacing cluster, do you need to calibrate fuel?

About half way through my first full tank. The gauge is tracking okay I think. My original gauge always went a little past both full and empty. Interestingly I'm beginning to wonder if the new gauge will end up with it ending up on more of a "true" empty. Ill be patient and see where things end...

After replacing cluster, do you need to calibrate fuel?

My fuel gauge on my 97 Tahoe was doing the full 360 and beating up my oil pressure gauge so I bought a used cluster from a junk yard. I think the needle read a 1/4 tank on the junk yard cluster and I probably had a little more than that in the truck when I replaced it. I went to gas up so I...

Headlight rods just spinning on my 97 Tahoe

So my low beam burned out and I went to pull the headlight assembly. I started working on the two 5mm rods that stick up and...they just spin. One spins loosely, the other turns but is still tight. When I first started, both had to do a little 'pop' to start. So I'm guessing the nut they drive...

360 fuel gauge and swapping clusters

Worst part of this was getting the trip odometer to slide back in!! Well that and starting to "pry" the actual thin plastic face instead of the whole gauge face! Thankfully I stopped (didn't make sense to me!) and looked closer before doing any damage. Worked like a charm!!! THANKS AGAIN!!

360 fuel gauge and swapping clusters

Wow! Thanks!!! One question - is the red clip to the trip odometer hard to get to or is it sort of "loose" and easily accessed once you unscrew the odometer?

360 fuel gauge and swapping clusters

My fuel gauge on my 97 Tahoe has been dancing for a while. I just used the trip gauge until the fuel pump actually started going. So I figured I'd replace the pump and sending unit with the hopes that would fix the gauge. It didn't...and the gauge has steadily gotten worse until now it will spin...

    ABS issue...too late to repair?

A while ago my '97 Tahoe started "pumping" the breaks on a slow-sleep stop, like pulling into a parking spot, a red light, or even my garage. I had someone look at it and they told me it was the ECBM. At the time, they wanted about 3K to repair it and so I pulled the fuse for the ABS and went...

    Driver's side switch bezel

What do you call this thing, officially? I'm talking about the plastic piece that the master power window switch (in my case, 4 windows and door switch), child lock out switch, and power mirror all attach to and then has a little speaker grill attached to it as well. I need a blue one for my 97...

    Intermittent passenger window control

Forgot to mention that I had also recently had a few times where the door locks wouldn't work without pressing on the switch exactly right. I ended up replacing the switch, which is the door locks along with all 4 windows. Worked right away and no issues so far. Only time will though, since it...

    Intermittent passenger window control

My only thinking about the switch is that I've noticed that if both switches are engaged at the same time, neither will work. And that a couple of times, me just fiddling with the driver side switch made it work again. I'll probably buy the driver side set of switches (5 switch block) and the...

    Intermittent passenger window control

Had this happen a couple of times - neither the passenger side switch nor the drivers side switch will roll the passenger window up or down. Sometimes it goes longer than others - this last time, for about 30 minutes. Then after a couple of stops and starts, it miraculously rolled up (we were...

Think I have a worn ring and pinion...

Earlier this year I noticed that I could hear this whining sound that got a bit louder with speed. Can't hear it until maybe 30mph and then it gets louder. At freeway speed it is constant, but if I hit the gas, it will change a little. That's the only thing that changes the sound other than the...
