    Useless Information

Yeah, I had been using it since the 1980s and in my last vehicle it would sometimes need a lot of makeup oil. Same with the Yukon after I got it until I switched away from Mobile One. It was great stuff back in the day.

    Can anyone recommend catalytic converters?

Almost 80K miles ago I replaced my cats and y-pipe with a Magnaflow set. Cheap Chicom cats last less than a year and often much less. Walker are also well thought of. GM OE for the injectors.

    2009 5.3/6l80 swap to 2011 L94 6.2/6l80

Shouldn't be any difference. Both engines have AFM and VVT and the injectors use the same connectors. You could go to GMPartsGiant, plug in both VINs or configurations and look up the harness part number to be sure. Same for GMPartsDirect.

Build thread - 3.08 to 3.42 front and rear gear change

For certain it is for the 6-speed equipped SUVs and pickup trucks, whether or not they have aluminum driveshafts or steel, are 4x4s or AWD or RWD. It is not the correct joint for the 2500s, save for the 2007. After that year they went to the 1415 series. My memory is fading on this now, I did...

    Useless Information

Just the plain Quaker State Full Synthetic version. These are the bottles we purchase from Walmart: 550046169 and 550046194. Mobile One quietly moved away from being a Group IV oil back around 2010. It was noisy and caused quite a bit of wear compared to ACDelco and now this Quaker State oil...

The current GM number is 89059111. The original AAM number is 19256728. The Spicer 1355 is 5-1350X.

    Useless Information

The results are in: Three oil changes on ACDelco oil and then 3 on Quaker State Full Synthetic oil. My thinking is that Quaker State is a suitable replacement for ACDelco, it is easier to get hold of (Walmart) and costs about 1/2 as much. Thoughts?

Should not need a conversion joint on a GMT900, all the 1500s use 1355 universals out back. Make sure your Spicer is for a 1355 and not a 1350, they are different. When you get the replacement axle, inspect the cast parking brake anchor blocks too. I had them broken on my donor axles from...

Replaced engine, now no crank no start

Something is not plugged in or a fuse or two blew during the swap. Did you use your original engine computer? What kind and year engine did you replace yours with?

    Lower Ball Joints Recommendation

About four years ago I took a survey from the guys on here about how long their control arms/ball joints lasted on the 1500s. The average came out to about 160K miles for most of the respondents.

    Does a 2024 Z51 with 6.2 require premium fuel?

Not every engine, but many engines after about 100K miles is what we've learned. They suffer from broken rings and or pistons. You don't see AFM cars piled up on the side of the road either but they do fail and need repair also. Ok, so my claims come from watching videos of broken engines...

Hey Chris and Ken, how long did your Moog/ACDelco control arms last? Who else on here had to replace them? @iamdub @kbuskill

    Lower Ball Joints Recommendation

Those are the same as ACDelco Professional/Gold. So that's another real world review of those things. They aren't lasting as long as we initially thought they would. How many miles since?

Build thread - 3.08 to 3.42 front and rear gear change

I reckon that as long as the brackets are straight, the control arms will fit inside them and it will track straight down the road. @iamdub @Doubeleive @gooffeyguy @randeez What does everyone else think about those brackets and getting them straight?

What is the best intake to pair with a Black Bear Tune, I currently have an MIT but I was thinking about upgrading and replacing the airbox

The factory CAI is can handle enough air for even a mildly modified 5.3 Gen III or Gen IV motor. The 6.2s do benefit from a CAI. BlackBear's testing showed us that Corsa/Volant was tops overall. The K47 high capacity air cleaner is really just a thicker filter. Same air box. The original...

    Gas Mileage

20-25 mph is 86% to 100% city driving. While our older trucks don't get the greatest gas mileage compared with new, we don't have new car $1300 a month car payments either. I did a quick math formula and mine has averaged 13.2 mpg with 86% to 100% city driving over the last seven years.

Those guys in the salvage yards do more harm than good all too often! The upper bracket can probably be fixed with a 2x4 and a mallet, and a mallet for the track bar bracket. Use your old track bar if the donor is tweaked.

    Useless Information

Between 100 and 145K miles I reckon. They are in a little bit better condition than the ones from the 141K axle. I reckon you're right, I ought not to be penny wise and pound foolish!

2014 suburban rear ac does not come on

Larry, you really need to put a scan tool on this and pull the internal BCM codes. If you have an IPhone with an OBDII adapter and the CarScanner app from the Apple Store, you should be able to read the codes, my kids can with their trucks. I cannot with my Android, I use a Tech-2 instead...

Replace 31 gallon tank with 39 gallon tank from 2500 series Suburban?

It's the dealer level scan tool that these trucks were designed to be worked on with. It was replaced in 2014 with the MDI and later the MDI2 but still works on our cars, not the new ones.
