Anyone know the book time/approx cost to have a shop swap an engine in a NBS Denali? I ordered a reman and I'm capable of doing it however I'm lacking time and frankly lacking motivation in this sub zero weather we are having.
I guess my question is this..
Is it just a straight swap? The blocks are basically identical on the outside right? The intake, and all accessories will just bolt on. Will the computer need to be swapped? I have a BB tune a could probably just have Justin reprogram if needed. I guess I'm just...
So after chasing my tail trying to iron out my low oil pressure on my lq4(see my other thread), I've come to the conclusion that I should just replace the engine. At 165k there is no use pulling it just to replacing bearings and I can't really be without it long enough to rebuild it myself...
Update
Over the last couple weeks since the part change out I've slowly watched the oil pressure drop. Cold start it now peaks at 20 and short trips it levels at 10 after its warm. After a 25 minute trip on the freeway yesterday it hit the first red mark on the cluster while at idle and the...
Update
I replaced the pump, o ring, and cam retainer with little change. I do have a bit more pressure because of the high volume pump. I guess we'll see how it goes

So this weekends update. The higher pressures were short lived. It returned back to the lower pressures I originally was seeing. I haven't had time to do anything but drive it nice on my short commute. Today I'm going to order a new pump, o ring, and cam retainer plate along with all the stuff...
Just an update. I haven't driven the Denali much because I have a short commute and I've been super busy so I haven't had time to dig into it. I did swap the sender and had been seeing the same results. Today I had to go somewhere. About 20 miles freeway driving so on a back road before I got...
This is cruising at 65 on the freeway. Maybe I will look into the O ring or pump. I really need throw a mechanical gauge on it. Just a pain to get my big hands back there.
I'm not certain I'd see this much metal at a standard oil change if it were just the o ring. What do you guys think? The second picture of the metal is out of the filter.
Well my 165k 6.0 seems to be losing oil pressure. Runs perfect but only about 25psi cold and 15-18 hot now. Use to be 40/20. Research along with metal collected on the drain plug suggests it's the typical cam bearing walk. I'm thinking of just picking up a good rebuilt. Any suggestions on who to...
I just wanted to update this.
After searching and searching, the best info I could come up with is that a solenoid or something is sticking causing the harsh downshift so on a whim I tried what others have for similar issues. I put a bottle of red Lubegard in there. I'm not usually one for...
I'm bumping this because it is still occurring. The trans works great with the exception of a hard 3-2 downshift. 2-1 is louder but is only the typical clack from the slack in the drive shaft splines. i did have BB tune my truck and Justin stated that a dirty throttle body will cause the truck...
its either the passenger side blend door actuator for the heating and cooling system. PITA to change out o the drivers side one which is easy. Passenger one is up deep in the dash, the drivers side is under the glove box area
did a full fluid swap and filter change this weekend. the inside of the pan looked really good. cleaned the MAF as well. seems to have settled down a bit.
Recently my Denali has been downshifting hard from 3-2 and 2-1 when coming to a coasting stop. I noticed that the RPM raises slightly upon downshifting as well. I've searched for this issue but haven't come up with much as far as answers. Any thoughts?

It will either break free with the above method and belt still on or you have to get creative. Strap wrench around the pully and if that doesn't work I used a chain wrench. Try not to gouge the pully

If your speedo is off from tire size or gears, it is off by the percentage of the difference. This means that the number will grow with the speed.

To simplify... if your tires are 20% larger the speed will be...
