    Factory Service Manual

Check eBay. If you're patient you'll come across a deal. Most of my repair manuals came used from there and a place called factoryautomanuals.com All my sets were picked up for under $100.

03 Denali Front Differential carrier bearing going bad

That's an amazing price. Differential work is hard to find local anymore, most places do an R&R swap from a chain rebuilder. The only local shop I could find wants $1000 and that is with me doing the R&R. I got a spare now that I took a chance on an eBay used salvage unit that was actually...

    Dealing with North Country Weather!

I'd start with undercoating it. I grew up and spent most of my life in the southwest and now that I've had almost a decade here in an area where salt is used in the winter I hate working under my vehicles anymore. These trucks seem to rust pretty easily, much easier than anything else I've...

Really bad swaying from side to side help

My Escalade had a bit of sway in the rear, replaced the upper and lower control arms in the back without any improvement although the lower arm bushings were pretty cracked. What solved it for me was a new panhard bar, the flimsy stamped metal one and the bad bushings in it where the source of...

    need front differential

Check out ebay for a replacement. The pre-2001 model diffs are pretty cheap from what I've seen. I've seen the 2000 front diffs going for less than $200. It's a bit of a PITA, but it is something you can swap out in a couple of hours on your back in the driveway. The other option is $1000+ in...

    What is happening

Any clunking or banging noise? To me, it sounds like something is loose or broken in your suspension.

    How to identify torsion bars?

Not much luck searching the net as I don't see a GM part number on mine. I just finished rebuilding my front suspension on the Escalade and the ride is much, much better but something still feels lacking, it should ride like a brand new truck but still has something uneven in the front end...

    Aftermarket pain in my ass!

Had that in the Trailblazer I used to own. It was dealer installed but I wouldn't pay for it. They simply broke the black portion of the key off, leaving the PCB portion in the plug (Not suggesting you try that). I never had a problem with it, probably since it wasn't pulled out and re-inserted...

    Crimestoppers remote start

Looks like it might be a bit more expensive and labor intensive to get remote start. I went to Crimestoppers website and downloaded the installation instructions, seems we'll need a data interface module for 03-05 on the Class II databus, and 06 on the CAN bus. Looks like that interface is...

    Where to buy torsion bars...

Well the project is done. The new control arms made the biggest difference of all the parts I replaced, the upper control arms especially seemed to be pretty bad in the bushings. Got the alignment done today and she rides almost like a new truck now, I'm very happy with the results...

    Shift Kit or Rebuild Kit

You mean a built 4L60 will last just fine, correct? I take it that your stock 4L60 didn't hold up behind your 5.3L as the reason you rebuilt it. My stock 4L65 didn't hold up behind my LQ9. I bought my truck used but I don't believe it has ever towed, the receiver doesn't appear to ever had a...

    Suburban Suspension Refresh- Parts List

Looks like my list, the only thing missing from mine is the sway bar bushings, mine look fine so I'll wait and see if I want to replace those later. I also did the rear suspension, new upper and lower control/trailing arms. Those seemed fine but I replaced them since I already bought them, no...

    Shift Kit or Rebuild Kit

From what I remember the 4L65 was built pretty much to the limit that the LQ9 outputs, 380lb/ft if I remember correctly for the trans spec, 4L60 is 360lb/ft I think. Lots of Escalades and Tahoes have problems with their transmissions it seems, mine included an a couple of other people I...

Front Shock Extenders - How do you mount these things?

It doesn't need much, they are the standard style, both sets (one box construction, one U shaped bent steel. They are just very slightly too narrow to get over the lower shock mount bushing. Bending isn't going to be easy, it's pretty heavy gauge steel.

Front Shock Extenders - How do you mount these things?

I've got two sets of shock extenders for my Escalade, one set came with the ReadyLift key kit, the other came with some other suspension parts I ordered awhile back. Got one side of the truck finished but the shock extenders (neither pair) are wide enough to fit over the lower shock mount...

2005 denali awd 6.0 acceleration noise

I think I'm going to give rebuilding it a try. I'm pretty detail oriented and like having opportunities to buy new tools that I don't have. I plan on swapping the original diff back in and rebuilding the used bad replacement to see how that works out. The used diff needs to come out anyway...

    Slowly losing coolant

That's exactly what I was thinking. Also, how about the rear A/C and heating? I imagine that coolant must run through a tube to the back and a heater core exists back there as well. Leave a whole lot of area that could be leaking.

    Ac cycling switch problems

Nothing I can think of unless the system has too much pressure in it. I believe that is a safety as well for engaging the compressor. I doubt you got two bad switches in a row but I guess it's possible. If you have a gauge set I'd put it on and jumper the pressure switch again to make sure...

    Performance questions

I don't know that I'd do that unless it was a cheap low mile used unit to have around as a temporary or a core trade in on a rebuild. I can't see spending a good chunk of change for a quality rebuild then having it lay around for maybe a couple of years before installing it. If you got a bad...

    Where to buy torsion bars...

Interesting, I hadn't even considered that possibility. Well, unfortunately a business trip will have me tied up for a bit, but my torsion bar removal tool came in this week. Now all i need is some free time to swap out the upper and lower control arms. After that, there won't be a piece of...

2005 denali awd 6.0 acceleration noise

I hate doing unnecessary work but on the plus side, you likely are good to go for a long time now on those items. I made the mistake of buying a used front differential and it was actually worse off than my original. On the bright side, now that I have a spare unit I'm going to try a rebuild...

How do you keep your vehicle from being stolen?

Well that sounds good until you have to deal with the insurance company. I'd rather go through a little extra trouble to try to keep the vehicle. Here are two scenarios that drive my thinking. 1. The vehicle isn't recovered and you get a check from the insurance company. The problem here is...

    Flowmasters and Backpressure BS

Well looking at your sig it appears you did it correctly, good job there! I'm talking more about the guy who doesn't have quite the resources and just adds crazy headers, a big cam like you'd put in a souped up Camaro or Corvette, and is only concerned with how much air you can flow through...

    Where to buy torsion bars...

I considered that for the simple reason you stated, they aren't readily available new. Maybe when I replace the control arms I'll see something apparent causing my bad ride. At 90K miles I suspect the bushings and ball joints are pretty worn. It does feel spongy though, even with new shocks.
