Dreaded Effing lifter tap...... - SOLVED

you know the gas in the oil trick, while sounding dangerous. gas is what we used to wash parts with. it breaks down any varansh quickly. makes me wonder if that's not the trick to clean the inside of lifters that get stuck.

    2004 6.0 NV4500 Tahoe

so I didn't look up what physical size your truck takes, but for reference. Google says a average 12v flooded acid car batter is 40-65 amp hour. to match that with a good quality lithium cranking battery, I looked up a group 24 anti gravity. the biggest they list is 60ah, 16lbs and costs 1049$...

    2004 6.0 NV4500 Tahoe

so the little I know about these batterys is it's all about the internal bms. c rating of the cells is what discharge load they can handle. there's more expensive high discharge cells and cheaper low c rating. usually for stuff like your tolling motor or solar back up. but really unless you're...

Exhaust Manifold Leak (Suspected): Tips, Suggestions, Experience?

so I can't find what I'm looking for, but I also didn't realize what arp is calling stainless steel header bolts/studs is 170k psi. that's some specialty stuff, I'm not sure there's much stainless about that metal besides not rusting lol. but seem like good stuff. personally I'd like a hex tip...

Alternator whine - but its not the usual suspects....

sadly the ohm reading doesn't tell you much, even thou some of those do seem a bit high, but could just be the bolt heads and probe not making perfect contact. the meter just runs a small amount of voltage thru the wire, it doesn't give you much idea of what's happening with 60amp running thru...

Alternator whine - but its not the usual suspects....

I feel like testing the voltage between a few ground to ground points, day alt case to block and neg battery terminal and pos to pos points might help rule out bad cabling and grounds. it's just very common for the cables to be eat up inside and look good. lots of posts about weird electrical...

Alternator whine - but its not the usual suspects....

this was my thoughts. maybe a amp clamp would show that it's under a much heavier load than it should be at idle. maybe a voltage drop test in a few places would show something. if it goes away when you remove the power wire off the alt. alts can get noisey when fully loaded.

    Baffling Oil Leak

top of the bell housing? like outside of the tranny? or right in the groove between tranny and block.

Exhaust Manifold Leak (Suspected): Tips, Suggestions, Experience?

I think I'd find it confirm you have a leak before taking it apart. it's been my experience these metal gaskets don't blow out. that's why the clamps work so well. my yukon was leaking from a broken bolt, probably been like that for years. added a clamp and it sealed right up, didn't need to...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I just had it up for pics to compare to the door frame. I'm 6.3 so my seat is always back. but yeah that's when I think I'll get to test it out for real. around town short trips it didn't bother me much but next long trip, set the cruise and relax plus I tend to stop at rest stops on long trips...

Exhaust Manifold Leak (Suspected): Tips, Suggestions, Experience?

these were on the car about 5 years.. I only recently removed them because the headers I bought came with titanium Hardware, which I'm scared is to soft was well, but I gotta admit it's kinda special looking and when you put 2500$ headers on your car, you do dumb things for looks sometimes...

Exhaust Manifold Leak (Suspected): Tips, Suggestions, Experience?

just my opinion and others do completely different and it works well for them too. but I like exhaust manifold studs. I feel like stainless steel is to soft for small m8 these engines use. I like the Dorman ones of all things, originally found them listed for a mustang, since they use the same...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

that's good. after driving a while with it, I will say it feels a little further back then I thought at first test. I need to clean mine up, but I think it looks OK. the truck isn't mint forsure. what color is yours? I still want to open one up and see it maybe the bars can be straighten or...

6.2 ls3 GM performance crate engine

so what I believe is happening there, something to do with lobe angle. so gm made an interesting cam for the ls7. this is a 7L that needs to idle dead smooth and here's the kicker. run to 7k redline with no veritable anything and pass emissions. a buddy had one for a while, got to drive it and...

6.2 ls3 GM performance crate engine

supposedly there's a guy that makes a sub harness to go between your ecm and whatever tcm you need to run for the 10. Hopefully there's a tcm that does it besides the global B that can control it. that adds a lot of cost. sadly I see hints that the gm 10 isn't very good in stock form long term...

Paint - Ceramic Coating - Question??

sounds like a very bad idea. I cermic coated my c6 after tons of polishing. I don't believe cermic would stick to a roughed up paint at all, and it comes off pretty easily if it's not in a very well corrected surface. I cermic coated a polished smooth polycarbonate top and it didn't hold up at...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I grew up diving sports cars with zero rear visibility long before back up cams and sensors. I found doing a quick walk back and look at the area your going to back out or into of makes all the difference. gives a quick reference of what you gotta avoid. at work they force us to wheel chock the...

those ratchets are rebranded in a few different names. I have the gear wrench set. if you need the 1/2 it's worth picking up the set. the 1/4in is very good too. it feels like a good valve per dollar, I have a set at work and home. GEARWRENCH 4 Piece Flex Handle Ratchet Set 84T | 81230A-07...
