Newb with 99 Yukon 4x4 with tire size question on stock suspension

+1 - that 4" BS with a 10" will rub As a point of reference for you b/c you mentioned 285's... I just recently added 285's on 17x9 rims that have a 5" backspace. To get them to clear, I raised the front of my truck up (I cranked my torsion bars) 1.5". Afterwards I added 1.5" blocks in...

Nominate October to "Keep or Not to keep"

I was walking down Broadway yesterday in NYC and saw an exact replica of Jacob's truck...with the bugshield!! I laughed my butt of considering how this thread started up.... So now we know, at one point in time, there were x2 guys with Burgundy burbs rocking the shield

Has Anyone tried the new "Vararam Tri-Pow" CAI???

I was looking at that thing a few months ago for my OBS, but unfortunately they didn't have one for my application. IMO, the design makes sense...but functionally I haven't seen any real data to backup their claims.

    Shocks

I have had both the Rancho 5's and Bilstein HD's and I prefer the Bilsteins. For a stock suspension that is going offroad, I would recommend the HD's, but you could select the Bilstein Comfort model (can't remember name) and the ride will be softer. If I remember correctly, the Bilstein...

    Recovery Kit??

I know man...it kills me to have to bring my ride in. When I work on my truck, I'm incredibly careful and if I make a mistake...at least I know I did it and learn a lesson. These guys were just careless, damaged two items and then denied the whole thing. This damn tire/wheel combo...

    Recovery Kit??

I was hoping to get a cutoff wheel in there, but it wouldn't fit...not sure on blades, but the ones I used went dull quick! Update: They installed the blocks yesterday and I went over to pick up the truck I noticed TWO things: -They hit the rim so hard with something, it ripped the clear...

    Recovery Kit??

Loaded it up on PB Blaster the night before...didn't even budge with a large closed end wrench and metal pipe extender. The edges of the bolts heads were even just starting to strip with all the torque we were putting on it. Earlier in the day i sawzalled x1 sway link bolt and I went through...

    Recovery Kit??

$60 would be nice...my local shop wants $200 just to torch off u-bolts and install rear blocks! Aggravates the hell out of me that something so simple is going to cost me b/c the bolts are too rusted to take off any other way. <done with rant>

    Recovery Kit??

Great info all around. To answer the big question, I do not have a winch YET...but I'm currently figuring out how to fit an ARB winch bumper (made for a Nissan) to my Tahoe. I'm also looking into an onboard air compressor, fridge/freezer, rear bumper w/tire carrier....off the top of my...

    Recovery Kit??

I'm looking for a complete or fairly complete recovery kit, any recommendations? ARB keeps popping up in my searches and it looks pretty good...but I'm a complete newb so i'm open to all recommendations. I'm also looking for tracks that I can place under the tire(s) when it gets stuck in the...

    4x4 Rigs - Long Haul - Photos??

I like you're thinking - currently at night when camping there is no "switchable" light back there. I'm going to build a custom switch panel this winter and I'll def throw those in there.

    4x4 Rigs - Long Haul - Photos??

What did you have in mind?? I also have a set of rectangular white lights that sit below the bumper...they are activated when I shift into rear. (i would keep them there with this bumper as well)

    Sway Bars

Per Sunlint - go with Belltech. I read a few reports of the H**** snapping at the mounting points for heavy rigs like ours. Belltech uses cold rolled steel, H**** uses a blended metal that has different characteristics...not necessarily better or worse, but for some reason Hotch has had issues...

    Hey Yall..

Welcome Justin!! I think we may need a little more information from you... Brakes - You're brakes are feeling "strong" when you stop - are they locking up when they're not supposed to? When you step on the brakes, at what point do they feel too strong? Gas Pedal - When you say...
