New Distributor and now P1345 Code?

So what exactly was done to cure your 4 degree error? Software edit? Cam sensor replacement? Timing chain replacement?

    Running Boards

Looks like you are missing half of the bracket.... There are C shaped brackets that mount to the body, not the frame. Those C shaped brackets bolt to the brackets hanging on your running boards. If someone else does not come up with a picture here soon, I could get the camera out and...

4L60E Where should I buy one?

In all due respect, you should consider developing a relationship with a local transmission shop. It may not be the last time you have a trans problem. I assume this is the original stock transmission you are going to replace. If so, it got to 211K miles by being “bone stock”...

Is it just me or do you change you mind a lot? There are six bolts for sure holding the trans to the engine block and sometimes they use a seventh bolt at the very top. The later model 4L80e tranny's had the top position open for the seventh bolt. The older cases are blank at the top...

    Neutral Safety Switch Problem :/

Here's the summit part. Just un bolts from the side of the tranny. Slide the new one on........ I think you have to unhook the shift lever to get it at it. :) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SMP-NS85/Application/?query=Make%7cCHEVROLET%7cModel%7cTAHOE%7cEngine+Size%7c5.7L%2f350

    best brands for brake rotors

Be careful with those Ceramic brakes. Test them when cold, to get used to them. I just about went through the wall of my garage, because the Ceramics don't do much until they are HOT!. :)

Prolem with a 89 chevy truck

If it turns out the fuel pump is correct and the return line is open, it looks like the Fuel meter cover/fuel pressure regulator assembly is sold as a replacement part. The injectors themselves might be getting tired too. Gas mixes with oil, so it would just start thinning the oil, but...

New Distributor and now P1345 Code?

There is no adjustment for timing according to the manual. The OBDII is supposed to be able to find itself. If the gears are in sync with the cam, I would look elsewhere for the code violation. What does code book say for P1345 ? They mention checking the timing while disconnecting...

Prolem with a 89 chevy truck

After thinking about it for a few hours, the fuel pressure regulator could also be the problem. It is located in the top of the TBI. Another possiblilty would be the return fuel line, pinched or restricting flow. You probably don't have a easy access to checking fuel pressure, but it should...

New Distributor and now P1345 Code?

I have to believe there is a line on the harmonic balancer and a notch molded into the timing cover, but I don't have a 97 to verify that. Either way, if you have the piston at the top of #1 and you can rock it back and forth to prove it, it has to be TDC if the rotor is anywhere near #1...

New Distributor and now P1345 Code?

Pull the spark plug on #1 (drivers side front). Turn the engine by hand to find TDC. It should be obvious if you are within a few teeth. The rotor should be pointing at spark wire #1. If it’s pointing at #6 you are on the exhaust stroke and have to come around again. Use something like a...

Prolem with a 89 chevy truck

Sounds to me like the put the wrong fuel pump on it. 88 thru 95 models require 9 to 13 psi. Later Models use 60-66 psi. It has to be burning very rich to get the results you are having. Take the cover off the air cleaner and see if you can see fuel leaking around the injectors. Also check...

    changing the a-arm bushings

I would suggest getting a basic Haynes Repair Manual for that operation. It looks like there are some specific things that have to be done in the right order to keep from getting screwed up. It does appear that the torsion bars have to be unloaded as much as possible, without actually...

    Ordering 4L80E + Torque Converter

Seems to me the flexplate was the same. I know I just replaced mine and the only question was internally balanced or external. They didn't seem to care what transmission it was hooked to. If you check into it with the transmission people, I think you will find that your transfer case can be...

    Transmission Question

The clutch pack for 3rd / 4th gear is the most likely problem. It is a simple re build, but the trans has to come out. You don't need a new trans, just some parts. Once they start slipping, they go down hill fast from there.

    Ordering 4L80E + Torque Converter

We used the same transfer case. The input shaft was changed to match the 80. I had a new drive shaft made for the front and shortened the existing rear drive shaft, changing the front u-joint and spline to match the larger size of the 80. The cross member is the same as well as the trans...

    Need Your Advice

Since the problem seems to span several different circuits, I would put the effort into main connections, both positive and negative. Keep in mine that in ALL dc applications, the current is equal on both sides of the circuit, negative as well as positive. It’s also important to start...

That 1800 to 2000 stall is basically stock. It might not be as responsive as your 4L60e was, seeing as how the 80 has a taller first gear. Maybe you will get lucky and it will actually spin faster..... :)

    Update on the cracked flexplate....

Oh, yea, Hotchkiss makes some really nice parts. The stars have not lined up for another trip to the strip yet. It has either been work or weather or at one point, Cedar Falls was a few feet under water. We are trying to catch one of their Friday night sessions soon. It’s my son in law...

    Update on the cracked flexplate....

Hey thanks, It’s easy to keep them clean if you don’t drive it in the winter.. That is one sweeet looking Formula…. I had not seen that version of the “shock tower brace”. Great idea, keeps it out of the way while getting the job done. Lookin good……… Those “anti squat” brackets came...

    no timing marks?

96 and later are listed as "non adjustable", as far as timing goes. I would hope that they still have the marks. I would think that with a cam sensor and a crank sensor, it would find itself. I wonder what happens if the cam itself is physically off a tooth or two, from where it was...

    no timing marks?

I thought the timing cover had a notch, molded into the cover itself. Try wiping the cover off in the upper drivers side area, behind the harmonic balancer. It should be there.

    Update on the cracked flexplate....

01 Formula, that’s a nice ride. Your right, aside from bigger tires and or drag radials, it’s a problem. The one change I found on my f-body that made the most difference for traction, was adding the “BMR anti squat brackets” to the rear. They change the leverage of the rear...
