What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

@ArcticYukon So what's up? The engine goes into reduced power & you have a fault code for the accelerator pedal position sensor? You said you don't know where to find a replacement part, what's the problem?

    Change Engine Oil

What % oil life has it gone down to? I understand your curiosity in the DIC info warning, but the % is much more valuable tool in diagnosis and perhaps deducing the accuracy of the message, assuming the monitor was reset at the time of last engine oil drain & refill. Also, your verification of...

Transmission 3rd and 4th gear fall out

I have read along several different sources where the 3/4 clutch pack fails due to 3rd accumulator capsule leaking. I'm sure most folks who rebuild/refurbish are aware, but if the capsule isn't inspected & tested, the failure will continue to occur until it is addressed. I don't like f***ing...

    serpatine belt/ac belt reccomndations?

I can assure you that RockAuto is a quality retailer. They carry the same parts as everybody else, warranty, return-friendly. Website is the easiest to navigate. I highly doubt anyone would advise against using RockAuto.

    serpatine belt/ac belt reccomndations?

I just bought a Goodyear gator back from RockAuto and it barely fit. I'm still not all that confident in it being the correct size but it's up to you. Continental I think manufactures the Goodyear gator back, as that is what I piurchased and in came the Goodyear. Any $20+ belt is going to last...

    serpatine belt/ac belt reccomndations?

Hey I don't know how familiar you are with RockAuto but I have shopped from there quite a bit, recently. They make it really simple to buy the parts that you need and even have bundle packages which include the tensioner, belt & idler pulley. Can't beat it...

    2005 yukon denali Maintenance

I second @mizzouguy I just changed the belts on my truck here @ 130k, 15 years old. Moreover, all of the bearings/pulleys were inspected and I didn't find any faults. I have another 2003 MY truck that also stays meticulously maintained and it got a belt drive overhaul last year: It started...

    engine coolant flush

https://www.thoughtco.com/antifreeze-red-or-green-262558 @Sgtduckyboy From my experience, DexCool presents a problem only in certain, specific applications. For the 800 & 900 series GM, DexCool poses no threat assuming the system in question is at least moderately maintained and/or in proper...

    Transmission maintenance

The manual calls for Dex-3 but that was superseded by Dexron-6 back in 2006 or so. Dex6 is backwards compatible & light years ahead of Dex3 in all aspects including protection & lubrication.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Follow up to this. I had another go at the new belt today & got it installed. The belt barely fits with the tensioner arm completely collapsed, or whatever you want to call it. Didn't even look right and there wasn't much pressure on the belt so I manually torqued back on it as much as possible...

    ABS and Brake light on

Thanks for correcting that. I haven't pulled the ABS on 1 of these trucks. For those of you that have R&R the ABS on NBS, is it typically the electronic module that fails, or does the hydraulic controller also present itself as the culprit in some instances as well? WABCO had a fully contained...

    ABS and Brake light on

@Larryjb If you have the clearance for power tools take a grinder or cut-off wheel to the old bolt/screw heads. You have to replace the hardware anyways if it is that rough. Those die grinders are made pretty small these days, I'm sure you can find something that will get in there & cut the...

    ABS and Brake light on

If you are on a budget or just like to spend economically like me, there is the option of acquiring a salvaged ABS module via eBay or your local recycler. Pennies on the dollar repair. 2 things to consider: 1) used parts are a gamble. No big deal, if it doesn't work eBay sellers will either...

    Inner tie rods

oh hell dude you should have seen me with a crescent wrench and 18" cheater pipe. stupid a$$, little-bitty tie rod end would not even budge on the passenger side. no rust, no corrosion, I didn't know what in the hell the problem was. I started reading online that guys would use (2) 18-24 inch...

    Oil pan gasket change

you don't think the original pan would ride the way it is missing the corner? Looks like plenty of material left there to seal tight on the engine block

    Inner tie rods

The inner tie Rod is installed with thread locker. I learned all about using heat on tie rods when I replaced the outer ends on my old lady's car. The outer isn't glued to the inner but my theory is that because of dissimilar metals, the threads shrunk together. I couldn't budge it for anything...

    Autoride or standard???

@Scasper1010 Is there a warning or message on the dash display in regard to the suspension? Does the compressor turn on with the ignition? I'm not all that familiar with the system on this model but these are just some things that crossed my mind when I was reading the thread

    H D sonnax truck 4L65E

Do some research on the sunshell. Even if you opted for the HD sunshell, I have read that even a OEM sunshell would hold if only for added oiling holes. The beast is better then OEM, obviously, but even a HD sunshell could benefit from improved lubrication. It requires simply drilling a few...

New Tahoe Owner - Could use some feedback!

@Prorider17 correct, I think vin 'z' is the only series with a fuel filter. you can look underneath the driver side doors inside the chassis rail and it will be there, if so equipped. if you don't have the transfer case with 4-buttons and 'auto' mode then you will be using a different...

New Tahoe Owner - Could use some feedback!

First off just let me say that you should definitely overlook/postpone repairs on anything that doesn't apply to major systems or driveability/reliability. It's an old truck so forget the small stuff and begin stocking-up on everything needed for a 100k mile service. The service manual will...
