The PCV loop could be contributing to the low fuel mileage. The component kits have an updated valley plate that does something with the PCV. If the PCV valve isn't flowing freely then gas mileage would suffer so you should do a search on how it applies in your application.
1 more thing is to check the oil level regularly until you know for sure this particular vehicle does not suffer from exaggerated oil consumption like AFM motors are known for. Some have drastically decreased oil consumption through the deactivation in the programming alone but the mechanical...
People have problems with the AFM up until the newest body style. Have you not surfed the Google? gmfullsize.com has a lengthy thread
There is a AFM delete package available that you can purchase. It replaces the lifters, camshaft, etc, with a standard setup eliminating the design flaws of the...
that sounds about what I was looking at. what did you do then? just stretch the EF out of it? so same belt, dif't alternator and you had trouble?
oh ok, you dropped the alternator. hmm
I had to unplug the main transfer case connector underneath the truck and let it dry out over night. Just look for the biggest socket above the transfer case, unplug the connector and see if any water is in there. It kind of hangs down so I had enough slack to tuck it up higher where water...
have you not been regularly checking the fill level of the various systems?
is this leak you pointed-out puddling on the ground?
make sure all of your fluids are topped-off and remain so before you go chasing your tail LOL
failing driveshaft u-joints always make a sound but that doesn't...

# on belt matches # on pkg
For 145a alt. Per build spec of vehicle in question.
It should fit. I didn't look at numbers on orig belt or alt housing; I didn't think to do so but does seem pertinent for further diagnosis. Thank you. Details to follow.
If you do a thorough flush on the entire coolant system then you won't have to worry much about mixing coolant. Backflush the heater loop. Work the radiator over inside and out. You have all that new stuff already, may as well replace any hoses & clamps that look suspect, refill it with DexCool...
New drive belt won't fit. Tad bit smaller than the original but everything says this is supposed to work. is anybody aware of a hack like heating up the belt before you try to route it on there? Only problem is it takes too long to get the belt into position; it would be back to air temp when I...
you can get on to RockAuto.com, put in the make/model/year & engine. There will be a listing of pinion seals under "driveline" or something like that. If your truck has 6-lug wheels you will select the pinion seal for a 10-bolt aka 8.5 & 8.6 axle. Nothing to it. Gaskets & seals are cheap. I...
now there's something for you to ponder on.
@Lanewvr
are you aware of any such anomalies that may exist between make/model and the location from which it was manufactured across other brands? I would be interested in some examples, if anyone would be so kind as to inform us.
A lot of folks use that Wal-Mart 'supertech' or whatever it's called. You think wal mart is producing oil? I hear it's good as anything else. I used their gear oil in the (2) diff on my truck...synthetic in the back, conventional for the front.
I did use a can of Oreilly dex6 and couple cans of...
will you post a picture of what you are referring? when I did the shocks there was a stud that goes through the top mount with bushings on either side, the bottom fits into the lower shock bushing bracket with the OEM bolt. The shocks should have come with the 2 upper bushings and a brand new...
It's not a transmission install or motor swap but I was shopping RockAuto yesterday for our other car & decided to get a new replacement belt for the A/C on my truck. Put the RoadMax <3 in the cart for $4.32 when paranoia got the best of me & looked through the drive belts to have a spare...
@yellowkid
follow the instructions below and proper braking function will be restored.
If you have performed a brake master cylinder bench bleeding on this vehicle, or if you disconnected the brake pipes from the master cylinder, you must perform the following steps:
Ensure that the brake...
With the info he orig gave, we can only assume this, I suppose.
Also to answer the OP, yes the layman can do the "dealer only" ABS purge with either the proper software (think TECH2) or jump the relay to pulse the ABS pump.
The Automated Bleed procedure is to be performed when the brake...
He only did the lines, right? What if the MC is original?
Since the ABS wasn't tampered with there would be no issue with that if it was working properly beforehand. Meaning it doesn't require the electronic pulsing with the software you were referring to.
So long as the MC reservoir wasn't...
Are you going to troubleshoot this yourself or have a professional repair the truck? If you tried searching the web for a solution you will find various suggestions as to the parts responsible or that have failed. There are several different components to the system, any of which could be at...
@cntryislandboy
Lots of good suggestions already. If you don't have a service manual of some sort, it's never a bad idea to have 1 handy. Not completely necessary especially if you have bookmarked a couple of YouTube videos. The tutorials are a wealth of information and insight for the job...
