    How big is this lift?

On 35's I'd say the front is around 8" +/- .5". Back is 6". I'd measure to the center of the wheel wells on level ground and add coil spacers or reindex the torsion keys to lower the front a little. More than likely, like someone already said, the keys were indexed to stop the tires from rubbing...

    Range switch malfunctioning?

Recently, the box around the selected gear on the gauge cluster has stopped working while in Park. RND321 all have the box displayed properly. The truck starts so it's not the NSS. It is annoying because the doors don't automatically unlock in park now. Is it possible that the range switch on...

    How big is this lift?

Take pictures of the front underneath and rear underneath showing the suspension on both. Judging by the lack of frame showing, it is all suspension lift. And list the tire size so we can gauge the gap in the fender. I have had my truck at 6" of lift, 7.5" lift and have it set at 10.5" right...

    2002 Tahoe Z71

I recieved 6 cans of Eastwood internal frame paint, MasterCoat primer and paint, the new polyurethane body mounts and 3" body lift blocks today; I'll be buying M12x1.75 180mm bolts and designing my own brackets. I have removed 8 body mount bolts so far, all very easily which shocked me. The...

    Shocks

Billstein 5100 Series shocks are unsurpassed in ride quality. I have a set on my 2500HD and it's unbelievable how well it rides for a 3/4 ton truck with 1 ton rear springs and cranked keys.

    2001 Z71 Tahoe Restoration Project

I know a few guys who have used it and said it's fantastic. None of them have paint matched their trucks but you can Google results.

    2001 Z71 Tahoe Restoration Project

I am going to paint the lower body line of my black Z71 in Raptor Liner (hard coated bed liner) and add 10% factory paint to color match it once I replace the rockets in the summer. I have issues with undercoating staying tacky so I assume rubberized bed liner would yield similar results.

Can I drop the tranny without a tranny jack/adapter?

You just want to make sure the weight of the transmission is evenly distributed across the pan to avoid damaging it. I secure my transmission to my customized Jack with a ratchet strap until it's up in the transmission tunnel.

Can I drop the tranny without a tranny jack/adapter?

I made a tool with my floor jack that works great and is simple to replicate if you can weld. I removed the small center section of my floor Jack that contacts whatever you are jacking up. I took a flat piece of (approximately) 3/16" steel plate and welded whichever size socket fit snug in the...

    2002 Tahoe Z71 Sub

I am not looking to relocate the sub or buying a $150 box to go under the rear seat. This truck is not a daily driver but does get used for family "trips" to go shopping for groceries and needs to also have room for a stroller (or perhaps two in the future. I am not looking for anything...

    RCD Lift Questions

No experience with RCD but if it is a true 6" lift and not like the old Rough Country 4.5" drop with 1.5" torsion key indexing, it will ride fantastic. When my 2002 Tahoe only had the 6" Rough Country lift, it rode amazing. I had several people tell me it was the smoothest driving lifted truck...

    The Eastwood Company

I'm a little late but I've bought several things from Eastwood. I like their interior frame paint, sheet metal tools and welders. I have their big 250 amp mig box and it's fantastic (cheap gun and cheap ground clamp though).

    2006 4x4 6 inch Rough Country and 35 BFGs

The RCX NTD kit was the first great RC lift kit IMO. I have 4 ot 5 years of "pavement princess" with mine and never had any issues. Truck looks great. Mine started at the 6" lift, 2 years later got the keys indexed and 1.5" coil spacers. Now it's down for a 2"-3" body lift and 37's lol

    Steering Play after Pitman change

I assume you jacked up the front end and grabbed a tire and checked for play based on your last sentence. If no play is present, it has to be in the box, shaft or column. I have cut into the steering box output shaft in the past on several occasions without any issues other than paranoia lol.

    2002 Tahoe Z71 Sub

I admit I don't know much about the audio and but I am looking to upgrade the factory 8" sub in this truck. I don't need anything insane and I am not really looking to spend a lot of money. I see Planet Audio makes a 8" 1,200W peak, 600W RMS sub (AC8D) that fits in the factory box. I'd like to...

Want to start a 6.0 HO project...

The crankshaft reflector wheel is the reason a newer 6.2 won't work with your NBS. I would find an LQ9, as stated above and get a set of 6.2 rectangular port heads and intake manifold. You might need to have the pistons fly cut to clear the bigger valves. I don't know what the difference in...

    Inner and outer rockers

I guess nobody has done rockers on these trucks? Anyway, I placed a bunch of phone calls. The difference in the rockers is due to the shape of the rear doors meeting the wheel wells rather than a cab corner. The outer rocker panels are in fact 99-07 crew cab Silverado rockers that need to be...

    2004 Yukon starting issue

Your wording makes me assume that the dash lights blink and then the starter engages... is this what is happening? If the dash lights flicker and nothing happens: Battery (or terminals or wiring to starter) Ground issue A few other possibilities but I doubt it's anything like a seized motor.

    Inner and outer rockers

I am looking for rocker panels for my 2002 Tahoe. I keep seeing references to purchasing crew cab truck outer rockers, trimming them and welding on a Tahoe specific exterior dog legs. What about the inner rockers? I see they are sectional (2 parts per side). Are these the same as the crew cab...

    LQ4 Tahoe Cam

I actually had to just go on Google to verify this because I was second guessing myself. I remember having a very long conversation with one of the guys from Texas Speed when I was selecting the LSA on the old MS4 cam. A 6* wider LSA could send the shift points up 300-500 RPMs depending on the...

    LQ4 Tahoe Cam

I hate to disagree but that goes against everything I have learned. Two cams, with the same exact lift and duration on two different LSAs will act very different. The wide LSA will stretch the powerband over a larger RPM range and carry the shift points higher. This is why many fuel injected...

How to use jack stands properly

You guys have no sense of adventure! I tried decompressing a torsion key on a lift by using an old axle shaft and lowering the truck down onto it... the truck shifted on the lift and I had to go change my underwear :happy175: I have gotten better about wearing safety glasses as I've aged though.

    Trouble making contact for return

Lately, I am guilty of this too. I especially like to use Amazon when I am working on projects that I'm not in a hurry to get back on the road - I noticed prices fluctuate a lot on Amazon depending on the day so I wait until prices get outrageously cheap. I scored Timken hub assemblies and...

How to use jack stands properly

Be leery of using this method if you aren't on flat ground. I have had trucks rolls on the slightest incline by jacking up the rear end first. A floor jack can't roll on a zip tie but surprisingly rolls very quickly with the weight of the truck on it! Or just chock the tires like everyone else...

How to use jack stands properly

I have legitimately never flushed a brake system on anything. After I do brake lines, I pop the top off the master cylinder and open one axle's bleeder at a time. 90+% of the air will gravity bleed if the lines are routed correctly. I can instantly tell if I manually need to bleed them...
