2003 Tahoe 5.3 - Random Multiple Cylinder Misfire

On the current cold start issue, without any more info, I vote for intake manifold gaskets.

    HELP ME!!!

My vote is still on ‘off-brand knock sensors need to be replaced with AC Delco’.

    Strange transmission problem

Wild ass guess—a ground is knocked loose.

    Strange transmission problem

I think in the process of tearing everything down for long tubes and whatnot something is disconnected. Time for a thorough inspection

    Strange transmission problem

Does it rev like it’s in neutral? Is the parking brake on?

    Oil pressure oddity

I don’t recall seeing this thread when it was originally posted, but just read through it all and kept thinking ‘sounds like maybe pickup tube O ring’.

    Service traction control

To answer your question: yes, likely related. And by likely, Inmean almost for sure. Did you add resistors to make the computer think they system was there and operating properly?

What have you taken a chance on?

It’s a “feature” designed into this generation of trucks to limit charging under certain conditions perhaps to eek out that last little bit of fuel economy. There’s a sensor that surrounds the negative battery cable with a plug on it leading to the ECM. You can disable it by disconnecting the...

    How’s your rear main seal?

    Oil pressure switch, screen?

I agree with the cam bearing guess—Lucas or thicker oil aren’t going to help.

Loud Engine Noise... Maybe Serious Issue?

    Well—were you busy this weekend?

    Overheating Issue

On a related note, I recently learned that you can pop the seals out of sealed bearings like those in our idler and tensioner pulleys, add grease, and snap the seals back down—no need to change them near as often and you might be surprised at how little grease they start out with.

Blown Rear End, No Drive Now?

agree with Erik— I think you broke your diff and trans one immediately after the other

    O5 Tahoe brake pedal

I’d start with bleeding the brakes and maybe new brake fluid

Loud Engine Noise... Maybe Serious Issue?

The lifters collapsing doesn’t mean the valves were touching the pistons, so don’t beat yourself (or the scope) up for not seeing anything. The noise you were hearing was likely the cam smacking the bottom of the lifter on up through the valve train.

08 Tahoe idle surge at low idle. HELP

I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say you should try the Big 3 (or 4) upgrade and see if it helps. If it doesn’t, it was a good idea anyways.

What brand sensors did you use? Did you replace the knock sensor wiring harness too?

    Code P0700 and P182E - Need help

Make sure your shift cable is not kinked or bound up somehow and check that the selector switch attached to the trans is not damaged or the connector is not janky in some way.

2007 Tahoe. Who still loves theirs?

I don’t think any climate, locale, condition, garaged or not, pampering, etc, will prevent the inevitable dash cracks. You can replace and do some things to hopefully ward off trouble on the new dash, but I’m not sure any factory dash will survive intact. I’m sure someone will be along to prove...

    2009 Escalade

You should have lots of heat and it shouldn’t take 30 minutes to get it. I suspect you’ve got a clogged heater core, stuck blend door, or a dirty cabin filter if you’ve got one. Cruise control—does it not engage, but engages if you try again immediately? Or on any given day it doesn’t engage at all?

    Afm failure cylinder 6

A stock tune is going to include AFM and throw different codes—it needs a custom tune with this cam in mind. It may or may not be the tune, but I doubt it’s a vacuum leak like they’re saying.

2008 Denali XL 6.2L Low Oil Pressure - Fixed

So 2 extra quarts gets you up around the pan rail... Totally tangent, but I recently bought an ‘02 Tahoe with 4.8 at auction. The dipstick indicated it was way over full but I thought, “nah, there must be some gunk in the tube...” and fired it up. It made huge clouds of smoke. Drained 18–yes...
